Good morning and welcome back to another Denny Davis video where you get the chance to be a viewer.
Do you hear my arch nemesis? He's back. He returns. The unkillable cricket. There's supposedly good
luck in other cultures. Just irritating to me. Excuse me, sir. Do you have time to talk about
our lord and savior? Excuse me, sir. Do you have time to talk about our lord and savior, Jesus
Christ? Sir, if you would just read the literature, I'm sure it would be life-changing. Well, I guess
he's gone. So normally when we get in, guys, I turn on these lights here and then we do the morning
show on Twitch. And we do that right here. And it's fun. And you should join us. It's a good
time. But then after that, we come around and today I don't have coffee. So I'm going to make
some coffee. Oh look, coffee has magically appeared. And then I take my coffee. Hot. And then I usually
just take a walk around. All the machines are good. All the lumber is fine. Everything's fine.
Braiding iron is not plugged in. Guys, I did get a timer. Everybody in that video was like,
get a timer, get a timer. I also got a timer. I just did not have time in the video to cover it.
Anyway, once I take a look at everything over here, make sure the whole place hasn't burned down.
Oh, there's my coffee from yesterday. Whoopsie doodles. Check out all my beautiful children.
I let them dry completely last night. So it's going to be really hard to scrape all the extra
glue off, but they're all doing fine. These guys I scraped yesterday. Club Famiche is doing fine.
You know, it's been closed for a while. You know, we haven't done any big tables or anything like
that. Then I check the Kanban board to make sure that, you know, we're making progress on everything
and everything's doing what it's supposed to do. And then I check board inventory. I come over here,
I turn on the lasers and get the fan going so it can exhaust out the roof. And then I fight with
this computer six times because it always blue screens of death. Oh, looky there. It's frozen
again. Wouldn't you know? And then with my fresh eyes, guys, I just take a look at all the boxes
and inventory and everything else and see if anything else needs to be refinished, recovered,
straightened up, cleaned, replenished, check the tape dispenser, make sure it's not about to run
out. Oh, that's a new roll of tape. Also check to see if there's any orders from the other day.
Those are some boxes of scrap that I need to get to eventually. But now that the computer decides
to work, I can go ahead and print out my orders for the day. We got a lot of boards to do. Seven,
in fact, I messed up. Everybody, everybody, I messed up. It's I wrote Virgil on the graphic,
but there's no second eye. It's just V.I.R.G.L. I double checked and I messed up. So lost a board.
Whoopsie doodles. What sucks is that we can't salvage the charcuterie boards. The cutting
boards, they're thick enough. I can like drum sand it down if I screw up on an engraving.
But with the charcuterie boards, they're gone. Look at all these lovely boards that have to go
out today. We got Provenzano, very specific type of Italian cheese. I guess this family is
responsible for it. Provenzano. I got the Virgil. I guess when the Virgils migrated here to the
United States, they didn't have enough money for two vowels. So they only bought one. D for D's
Sounds like a European cop siren. Man, I put it on Instagram yesterday that we just had a few boxes
left of scraps and man, y'all cleared us out. So if you really want to know when scraps drop,
we usually announce stuff like that on Instagram. All right. First box is for Antonio. Antonio,
here's your box. Give Antonio some maple, some cherry. There we go. 15 pounds.
Good morning and welcome back to another day with Jenny and Davis where you get the chance
to be the viewer. We got a problem. Surprise, surprise. Jenny and Davis,
you guys only ever have problems. I know. Tell me about it. That's running a business.
Sawdust everywhere. I am on a mission to get rid of all sawdust in this shop. Working on that guy,
subscribe and you'll see our solution to that. But yesterday I was making some of these cutting
boards and I have to crosscut the ends so they're all the same width. And I also have to cut them
so they're the same length or depth or whatever the right word is. But sawdust went everywhere
because I have to use a crosscut sled and I can't fit the over the blade dust collection thing that's
supposed to be on here anyway, because I got the crosscut sled in the way. And I was thinking,
do I need a crosscut sled? So here's what I currently do. I put the board on the crosscut
sled and I just trim this end off from the glue up. And then I flip it over. I got a little pencil
mark right here for 17 inches. So I line it up with that. Then I crosscut it to length and then
I turn it 90 degrees and I have another one here for 10 and a half because our boards are 10 and a
half inches this way. And then I just rip it on the table saw sled like that. And then the board
is done and I move on to the next one. And that throws sawdust just absolutely everywhere. And it
makes me feel not good. I don't like being covered in sawdust. I went to the church group last night
and I was just covered from head to toe in sawdust and it's sticky. And I always get it in my eye.
Even if I'm wearing safety glasses, I get the sawdust in my eye because I'm blowing a fan on
me. And then it's just blowing it all over the shop. So it's gotta be a better way. Why am I
using a crosscut sled? If I get rid of this guy, I can just use a miter gauge, right? So I can put
the miter gauge in here and use that guy. But then I need a stop or a flip stop. So I've ordered a
better, nicer miter gauge that comes with like a fence and flip stops because I don't want to build
a jig or anything like that. We don't want to use any custom built solution. I want to use an
off the shelf product because this is a business. It's not a hobby anymore. Gotta do things the
right way, not the cheapest way or not the way my grandpa taught me how to do it. Sorry, grandpa.
You didn't teach me any woodworking, but don't want to insult your honor like that. But before
I show you the solution to the table saw, I need to vacuum and clean all this up and then
finish this batch of boards. All right, just got these guys chamfered and they look nice and pretty.
They're ready for their little bath. I think we've got a really good batch this time. There's only
one or two in here that I'm actually worried about throwing away. But now that I'm doing that,
I get to tackle table saw guy here. One of the problems I'm having is that the dust collection
is just not strong enough here at the table saw. It's at the end of the line. It's like 30 feet
away. Totally understand. But I need better suction here. So I'm going to go to the store
and find a solution that I think might be helpful. Two hours later. Tada. I got another
dust collector and I'm going to assemble it here in the air conditioning instead of out in the hot
shop. Thinking ahead. Surprise. It's finished. Went together just fine. No problems. No catastrophes
that I recorded anyway. But now we can wheel this guy out to the hot shop and deal with him
another day. We've got a lot to do today, Jenny, don't we? Always. Always. What are we doing today?
We are fulfilling a few orders and it should be fun because it's a variety. It's boards.
It's refinishing kits. It's our new product. It's our candles. I'm so excited. It's our
first organic candle order. So we're super excited about that. And yeah, you'll get to see it all
here. Variety is the spice of life. You sound so enthusiastic about that. Are you writing love
letters to your other boyfriend? Yes. I'm writing a little something to make your new house feel a
bit more like home. Thank you for your trust in me. Enjoy. You think he'll like that message?
I think so. Okay, good. Took me a long time to write. Wait, your new boyfriend bought a house?
Apparently. He's doing better than me. All right, next we got a refinishing kit. So I got to put
this tiny box together. These little refinishing kit boxes are so small and cute. Put a little
crinkle paper in there just for some sparkle. Tin of finish. Super secret special applicator pad.
Don't ask me where I got it. And a board care card. Look at these little guys. Aren't they cute?
Candle time. So this is our other scent we have for our candles. It's a balsam fir scent,
but we've named the candle decorating the tree because that makes you think of like being
together and stuff you do as, you know, a family or friend, which is what we're going for here.
I smell so good. There they are. Look how cute. Emery. Mom. Maggie. Moss. Maybe. Mirka.
And then we got Kelly. Like Kelly Green like tractors or like Kelly Blue like Kelly Blue Book
or famous like Kelly Ripa. All the above. We'll never know. As you can see, this is a wreath.
Charlie. Cheryl. Cindy. Common. Packing up the last box right now and we've discovered a
an opportunity. Let me say it that way. So we're starting to get orders of like combinations of
products. So we've got like a board and a refinishing kit, which we've done before,
but like we're getting boards and candles, candles and refinishing kits, candles and candles. Like
there's just all manner of like different product options now. And we are going to take a bath on
shipping this time, because normally we ship boards in a box like this and see it's four
inches tall, which will hold a regular black board box. Just fine. You can even throw a
refinishing kit in there if you really need to, and it'll still close and still ship just fine.
You can even fit two boards in one of these boxes, but candle boxes do not fit in here.
They're too tall, even if I lay them down. So the only other size cardboard box that we have
is this size. And that's way too big just for a board and like a set of candles.
So, uh, we just need to measure every combination and see if we can find one magical unicorn box
from Uline that fits all these different combination of things. Which Uline basically
has every box you could ever imagine. So I know we'll find exactly what we need.
On the topic of shipping, that was the deep dive this week in the stud stack,
and we're going to release that to you guys as a micro program. So check the link in the
description. And we sat down and brain dumped everything we've learned in the last two years
about shipping products and mailing them out and how to pay for it, how to package it,
what to include, how to make a beautiful unboxing experience. But if you want your
stuff to look like this and learn how we did it and all the tips and tricks and stuff link
in the description, you can get the micro program. And we'd love to share everything
we've learned about shipping because we didn't know people had this many questions on shipping.
So here you go. Highly recommend it. Oh, excuse me, sir. Would you like to hear about, Oh,
I forgot the literature. Excuse me, sir. Would you like to talk about our Lord and savior?
Just read the literature, sir. Don't run from the Lord. Oh, I'm trying to scoop him up and get him
out of here. But hello and welcome back to another day with Jenny and Davis where you get the chance
to be the viewer. Oh, it's so nice in here. It's only like 75 degrees outside shop feels amazing.
And I have to do some board work today and I've got to do it pretty fast because this weekend
is an air force weekend for us. So I basically have just this morning to get all 60 of these boards
done. Stay on task, stay on task. This is some nasty water. Stay on task. It's been sitting
there for a little bit. It's kind of gross. I'm going to empty it out. Don't worry. We're not
going to be violently waterboarding the boards. That was just a special treat. A one-time thing.
It's not polite to continue to commit war crimes. Where's your ball? Where's your ball? Go get it.
All right. So here's my station and it's a little tiny drill bit.
And they use this little jig to drill holes in the bottom of the board. And once I've done that,
I use the braiding iron to brand it and then I dunk it into water. We'll dry them and then
we will sand them one more time at 220 grit and they'll be ready to go. POV, you're a cutting board.
A terrible tragedy has taken place. I broke my drill bit off in the cutting board.
Well, that was anticlimactic.
All right, guys. So I finally got this batch of boards done. I got to put them on the inventory
shelf. But man, this was a good batch. This is the first time that I've taken the slow but
steady approach to a batch of boards. Just been working on them like an hour a day.
And but yeah, the battery died. So we finished this batch of boards and I did it slowly. I did
like an hour here, an hour there, two hours here. It's tough because I'm the kind of person that
really likes to do everything all at once. So for me to like break it down into steps,
it's kind of mind numbing for me, but it's the way you got to do it.
Check that out. Nice fully stocked rack. So now the Kanban board can finish that.
So those are done. And next up, more cutting boards. And then after that,
more charcuterie boards. Love this Kanban board. We're behind.
