Today we've got some news to talk about when it comes to the new 2023 Honda Hornet and the
Transalp 750 Adventure Motorcycle. Honda of Europe just released some engine specs for the Hornet
and we now know that it's going to have an all-new 8-valve Unicam 755cc parallel twin-cylinder engine
with a 270 degree firing order. And yes, some of that we already knew, but we now have some
official performance specs to talk about. The new Honda Hornet 750 is pumping out 91 horsepower at
9,500 rpm while delivering 55 foot-pounds of torque at 7,250 rpm. Now, if Honda can just
keep the weight down on this bike, which shouldn't be too difficult since it's a naked sport bike
or street fighter, whichever one you want to call it. But yeah, if they can keep her on the leaner
side, it should be a pretty fun package. Personally, I'd rather have an inline-four thrown in there,
but those high rpm screamers a lot of us love are clearly on their way out. I'm excited to
ride this thing though and see if it changes my mind on that front. Now, to the elephant in the room.
Will Honda take this engine and throw it in the new Transalp 750 without detuning it like they've
done in the past? Or is Honda too scared that it'll take away sales from the Africa Twin 1100
with its 100 horsepower engine and curb weight that starts at 529 pounds? It doesn't take a
rocket scientist to figure out that if they bring the Transalp in at the sub 500 pound mark,
there's not going to be that much of a difference in the overall performance between them.
And yes, I know the Transalp looks like it's going to be more road-focused than the Africa Twin,
but you have to remember, most people buying these bikes don't so much as take them on a dirt road,
let alone do what we see in these promo videos by all the manufacturers for adventure bikes.
And I'm not knocking people that don't take these bikes off-road. Heck,
I would not spend 15 grand on an Africa Twin and take it off-road as I'd be too scared to drop it
since I don't have an ounce of the skills needed to throw a 500 plus pound bike around like it's
a 200 pound dirt bike. But I'm rambling on now, so let me know what you guys think.
Do you think Honda will severely detune this engine if it's thrown in the Transalp?
And for those guys looking forward to the new Hornet release,
are you happy with the horsepower figures? Let's talk about it all down in the comments section.
Thanks for watching and supporting all of this, guys. I really appreciate it,
and we'll see you in the next one.
