Hey curlfriends, I'm Bianca Renee and you're watching Bianca Renee Today. And today I'm back at it again with another curly hair product review and tutorial. My curls are finally back. They've been in braids for some time. So far so good. I didn't have a lot of shedding. Um postpartum shedding hasn't like really begun so hopefully it maintains. But today I'm going to be trying a new CurlSmith product. Did you really think I was gonna let maternity leave keep me from trying a new CurlSmith product? Especially one made for fine hair? Especially one made for volume? Like I had to. I had to. So this is the new CurlSmith scalp recipe full body thickening lotion. It's supposed to volumize. It's supposed to be lotion for airy definition. Of course it's cruelty free, vegan, no silicone, no sulfates, no parabens. This is the 18 fluid ounce bottle. It looks like it's a a pump applicator and you use this after you're leaving but before your styler. So as you can see it has the blue color here which means it's part of the scalp recipe collection. Which is probably my favorite collection. Is that true? Yeah. Favorite collection of CurlSmith. It's hard to choose. So I'm starting off on clean freshly washed hair. I washed my hair with the CurlSmith co-wash and I'm going to just kind of dampen it a little bit before we add in our products. So first I'm going to start off with the CurlSmith weightless air dry cream. This is hands down my favorite leave-in conditioner period. Smoothing this in mainly on my ends and then working it up. And since I'm going for a volume look I'm going to kind of style my hair up and away from my scalp. I also don't want to apply anything too heavy or anything with too much hold because we're going for volume and that can weigh down your hair especially if it is fine like mine. Oh that rhymes. Now let's get to the main attraction. Okay full body thickening lotion. Pump takes a little while. Not a lot comes out. It's a very teeny tiny hole. So maybe that's trying to tell me that I don't need a lot but we don't use dime size so who knows. Okay rubbing to my palms. Smoothing it in. Raising it up. Okay so it's the lengths. So maybe that'll kind of like separate all my curls so it looks bigger on this side. You want lengths? There you go. I kind of feel like I need more. The consistency is like a really it's almost like a serum. So it's thinner than a cream styler and I would say thinner than a leave-in conditioner. It claims that you could use this all on its own but because this is a level two hold that's a little too low on the hold section for me to want to use it on its own. It might be fine but I just you guys know how I am. We all got preferences. So we're gonna make it like a little sandwich between our leave-in and our styler of choice. You could stop here. It says that it's similar to like just using their foam on its own but I'm gonna go one step further and add the Hydro Style Flexi Jelly. Smooth and lift up and then scrunch it back up for that and raising the roots. So I'm gonna let this air dry for a little bit come back to diffuse and then we'll see the true results. And I'm back. Let's diffuse. Oh I mean it's curlsmith. Okay! Beautiful. But the main difference that I still want to test out with this is that it's claiming a 24-hour wear. For me, I can get my hair big but I have a really hard time keeping it big. So I don't even want to bring this up because you guys are gonna notice but sometimes if you watch my videos my hair will start out big and then it'll like shrink during the video and then like you could tell when I re-fluff and then it's like bigger again at the end of the video. So I would love if the full body thickening lotion kept my hair big instead of shrinking down. So I've started this video way too late. I know I'm nowhere close to doing a 24 hour test because it's 9 p.m because I can film when the babies are sleeping now. But let me just add a little bit of oil. This is my curlsmith bonding oil. My fave. I missed this. I haven't used this since I took my braids out. Let me get my pick. Let's just see how big we can get it and then see if it'll stay. Oh okay. It likes the pick. Maybe it's because I'm picking it out and then it's staying picked out. Okay now what do we think? Maybe I'll do this. I'll come back tomorrow and we'll see how it looks on day two. But for now I am seeing a difference and I'm back. It is now day two and just when you thought my hair couldn't get any bigger it did. Wow. Not to be Regina George but my hair's like really pretty. I feel like it hasn't looked this good in a long time or maybe I dismissed it because of my braids but like it is it's kind of showing off right now and my hair always looks better on day two in my opinion. But this full body thickening lotion has maintained its bigness throughout the day. Like we're literally at 24 hours now and my curls are still popping. This morning when I took my hair out of a pineapple the volume was still there without doing any refreshing but then once I did do a little refresh I added a little bit more and a little bit more gel just because I do that every day and like now it just it just took it to a whole other level. Granted like I still can just use the hydro style flexi gel on its own and get amazing results but if I want more moisture I could add the weightless air dry cream. If I want more shine and I want to smell like a tropical paradise I can add the bonding oil but now if I want the big volume to last I now have the full body thickening lotion. It kind of acts like a hairspray but without like the stickiness or the hardness so even though this is giving me like hold for volume it doesn't have a hard crunchy hold which I know a lot of you don't like so you can get the big volume hold without any crunchiness or stiffness. The full body thickening lotion can work for all hair types but it's really beneficial for those of us that have fine hair. If you have a medium density hair this will also work for you to help you with definition and give you some more lift. Like did I even pick it out yet? Like can we do more? I think I'm just getting greedy at this point. I just love big hair.
