Before telling the story
我們先來做個動動操
Let's do an exercise first
大家說好不好啊 要準備開始囉
Is it okay, we are ready to start

耶 這樣子大家就有精神聽我說故事了 對不對
That way everyone will have the energy to listen to my story, right?
我相信喔大部分的人都希望
I believe that most people would like to
自己能夠有好的運氣在身邊
have good luck with them.
那怎麼樣才能夠讓自己有好的運氣呢
So how can we make ourselves lucky?
相信今天聽了這個故事之後
I believe that after listening to this story today,
就知道該怎麼做囉
you will know what to do.


在三國時期的魏國
In the state of Wei during the Three Kingdoms period,
有這麼一個人 他很窮喔
there was a man who was very poor,
卻是一個非常有才學的人
but a very talented man.
什麼是才學啊
What is talent?
就是才華跟學問
It is a combination of brilliance and knowledge.
但是他常常感嘆自己懷才不遇
But he often lamented that he had talent but no opportunity.
那什麼又是懷才不遇呢
Then what does it actually mean?
就是自己有很好的學問跟才華
It was that he had great knowledge and talent,
但是啊都碰不到欣賞他的人
but he couldn't find anyone who appreciated him.
有一次 他把身上的錢啊全部花光光了
One day, he spent all the money he had with him
餓了好多天都沒吃飯喔
and was starving for many days without food.
於是他就帶著很疲累的身體啊
So, with his very exhausted body,
走 走 走 走到了一座小廟來休息
he went to a small temple to rest.
怎麼知道他真的很倒楣喔
He was really unlucky
因為這座小廟啊
because the temple
很久很久都沒有整修了
had not been repaired for a long time.
年久失修
It had been in a state of disrepair for a long time,
再加上下啦 好多天的雨
and it had rained for many days,
於是啊 這個小廟就 空 空 況塌掉了
So the temple collapsed.
他看到簡直不敢相信自己
Looking at the situation in front of him,
怎麼可以如此的倒霉到極點
he couldn't believe how he could be so unlucky.
於是他非常的沮喪
He was so depressed that
他就想 那我還活著幹什麼呢
he thought to himself, "Why am I still alive?
我這麼倒霉 我這麼可憐
I am so unlucky, so miserable.”
於是呢他就生起了一個不好的念頭
Then he had a bad idea,
他想要找一棵樹上吊自盡
he wanted to find a tree and hang himself.

耶 大家 記得聽清楚囉
Hey! Everyone! Listen carefully!
這個念頭是非常不好的喔
This is a very bad idea!
不可以學知道嗎
Do not try to copy this, understand?
那於是啊他就走走走 走到了一棵樹下
So he walked on and came under a tree.
剛上到樹上的時候準備踢掉凳子時
As soon as he was about to kick the stool off,
就看見 哇
he saw a package
遠處有一個包裹掉在哪裡耶
left in the distance.
於是他就在想
So he thought to himself,
掉包裹的人啊 一定很著急
the person who dropped the package must be very anxious.
他就說囉
He said,
那乾脆喔我等找到包裹的主人之後
"Well, I'll wait until I find the owner of the package
再死也不遲
before I end myself."
於是啊他就走 走 走 走到了包裹處
So he went to the package
打開包裹一看
and opened it up.
包裹裡面除了幾件
There was nothing in the package
材質非常好的衣服之外
except for a few pieces of clothing
再也沒有其他
of very good material.
那麼材質這麼好的衣服
With such good material,
一定是有錢人家掉在哪裡的
it must have been dropped by a rich man.
那他就坐在包裹處等著
Then he sat down next to the package and waited
包裹的主人來找到它
for its owner to find it.

於是啊 等著 等著
So, as he waited,
到了黃昏的時刻
there came to him
來了一個老人家 那老人家神情
an old man at dusk. And the old man
很慌張的來到了 他的身邊
came to him in a panic,
看見他躺在哪裡
and when he saw him lying there,
就把他給搖醒起來
he woke him up.
可是你知道他不是在睡覺喔
But you know,he wasn't sleeping,
他是餓昏了過去
he was fainting from hunger.
那他有氣無力的張開眼睛看了看老人家
He opened his eyes weakly and looked at the old man.
老人家就問說
And the old man asked,
年輕人請問你有看到一個包裹嗎
“Young man, have you seen a package?”
那他就拿出來包裹
Then he took the package out
對老人家說 請問是這個嗎
and said to the old man, “Is this it?”
老人家很開心說是啊是啊真的是太感謝你了
The old man was very happy and said, “Yes! Yes! Thank you so much!”
於是呢老人家就拿出了幾兩銀子啊
So the old man took out some money,
準備要感謝他
ready to thank him.


他對老人家說
He said to the old man,
你啊 不用給我銀子
“You don't have to give me money,
因為我餓了好多天沒吃飯
because I've been starving for days and haven't eaten,
根本走不動給我銀子也沒有用
and I can't even walk at all, money is useless to me.”
於是啊 老人家看他
So,when the old man saw
這麼可憐又這麼善良
how poor and kind he was,
就把他帶回了家裡
he took him home,
餵他吃米粥
fed him with rice porridge,
還有讓他留在家裡住幾天
and let him stay for a few days.
果真喔 經過了幾天的調養
And, after a few days of recuperation,
這個人的身體漸漸恢復了體力
the man gradually regained his strength.
那麼這個老人家也知道他全部的經歷之後啊
Then the old man, knowing what he had been through,
就對他說 我覺得啊
said to him, "I think
你啊在現在吃一些些苦 是好事喔
it's good that you're suffering now,
因為啊之後你就會好了
because you'll be successful afterwards.
我小的時候
When I was young,
父母親常常對我我說
my parents used to tell me that
一個人的福氣跟品德德行
a person's good fortune is tied to
是相繫在一起的
his moral character and virtue.
那如果這個人在遇到苦難的時候
If a person can think of others
還會想到別人為別人著想
in times of hardship,
那麼會感動上天
even God will be touched
而且相對的會有福份喔
and he who suffers will be blessed."
那這個年輕人聽了
After hearing this, the young man
很認同老人家說的話
agreed with what the old man had said.
那麼自己家的主人老爺啊
So the master of the house,
也知道了這個年輕人的經歷
also heard the young man's story
於是覺得他這麼有才華
and thought he was so talented that
就把他留下來來教導他的孩子們
he kept him to teach his children.
那過了三年之後果真啊
After three years,
這個老爺家的孩子被這個人教得
the master's children were taught by this man
非常的懂事而且很有禮貌
to be very knowledgeable and polite.
那這件事情啊就在街坊鄰居
The story spread among the neighbors,
就傳開了大家都知道有這麼一個年輕人
and everyone knew that there was such a young man,
很善良又很有才學
who was very kind and talented.
那這家老爺有一個好朋友
This master had a good friend
是在朝廷裡面當官的
who was an official in the imperial court.
那這個當官的老爺啊
He was very worried
剛好為他女兒的婚事感到很煩惱
about his daughter's marriage,
不曉得要把他的女兒嫁給誰
and he didn't know to whom he should marry her.
恰巧知道了這個人之後啊
But when he found out who this young man was,
於是就把這個他的女兒
he betrothed his daughter
來許配給這個年輕人也就是嫁給他
to the young man, that is, to marry him.
那這個年輕人啊
And after this young man
娶了這個當官老爺的女兒之後
had married the daughter of this official,

相對的啊因為他的岳父在朝廷當官嗎
since his father-in-law was an official in the imperial court,
又知道他這麼好
and he knew that he was so good,
於是就把他推薦
he then recommended the young man
進了朝廷當官
to the imperial court to be an official.
那因為他是一個善良
Because he was a kind man,
然後對每一個人都很好的人
and he treated everyone very well,
於是他身邊的同事都很喜歡他
his colleagues liked him very much.
他的官就越做越大 越做越大
His career got better and better,
還有他跟其他一些官不一樣
and he was different from other officials,
他很特別喔
he was very special.
有些人啊 當官有權力對不對
There were some officials who had the power
他用這個權力不是做出對別人好的事情
and used it not to do good to others,
而是啊 去做出對自己有好處
but to do good to themselves
卻是傷害別人的事
which hurt others.
但是這個人他利用手上的權力
But this young man used his power
做了好多 好多對老百姓有好處的事情
to do many things that were good for the people.
所以啊 老百姓啊都很敬重他
And that's why the people respected him so much.
在他年老的時候
When he was old,
他常常對他的兒孫們說
he used to say to his children and grandchildren,
你們要知道啊
"You know that
一個人啊在遭受苦難的時候
when a man suffers,
是因為自己的德行不夠
it is because he is not virtuous enough.
但是如果在受苦難的時候
But if you can still think of others
還能夠為別人著想
when you are suffering,
那麼一定會感動上天的
God will surely be touched.
相對的也能夠得到上天的眷顧
And, in turn, you will be blessed by God,
進而逢凶化吉遇難呈祥的喔
so that you will be able to turn misfortune into blessings."
那他的兒孫們啊
His children and grandchildren
都謹記著他的家訓
all remembered his teachings.
每一個人都用這樣子
Each one of them
正確的態度來對待別人
has the right attitude to treat others in this way.
那這樣子呢這一家
That's why this family,
他們的每一個人都很受到歡迎喔
each one of them, is well liked.
好啦 那故事說到這邊
Okay, that's the end of the story.
