Ernst August Hassmann
(? - Hannover?, 8 January 1733)
German composer. Mainly active in Hannover, the year of birth remains unknown on the list of historical members there, as well as his employment before entering the city musical service on 1 January 1712. However, his official names are known: in 1712 he was elected elector and in 1714 royal court and chamber musician. The entry date also shows that he worked there as a musician with Georg Friedrich Händel, Kapellmeister there since 1710. As a composer, his only extant work is a Concerto à 8 voci and, as with the overture to the Pastorale Issé by André Cardinal Destouches and Thésée by Jean-Baptiste Lully, the notes for the concert probably came to Dresden through contacts of musicians from Hannover, Celle or Braunschweig. #ClassicalMusic
