Morning.
What's up, P Nation? Today we are in Napa Valley, California.
So today is a very exciting day for us. We've never been to Napa Valley together
and as budget travelers we felt compelled to make a video devoted to our experience here
in Napa Valley specifically to show you how we're doing it on a budget.
So we're here in the tiny town of Calistoga which is in the very north end of Napa Valley.
So Napa Valley isn't one specific place. There is the town of Napa which is very popular to go to.
It has tons of wineries but there's also like a dozen other small or like half a dozen other
small cities in the same valley that have amazing wineries and are all part of this like Napa Valley
region. So like I said we're here in Calistoga on a Saturday and it is a beautiful tiny quaint
little town up here in the mountains. We are surrounded by mountains right now. It is
absolutely gorgeous and our first stop of the day is the Calistoga Farmer's Market.
And I just bought honey sticks for a dollar. I got four honey sticks for a dollar. This is great.
And we bought postcards. All right we bought some beautiful mandarin oranges. They're $3.50
for six. We picked these up because we have a whole day planned. We're stopping by a winery
but then we're heading on to a picnic area that has a geyser. More on that later but we have our
beautiful oranges so we're going to go to the next stop. Okay as first-timers here in Napa Valley
let me just say it was very difficult to figure out what we wanted to do today because as you
can imagine there are probably hundreds of wineries that you can choose from. Wine is the
reason why Napa Valley is so popular. It is a very well-known place on the map especially in
the United States. When you hear of Napa Valley you think of wine tastings. You think of beautiful
wineries. You think of beautiful mountainous settings here in California but most of all
you think of wine. Now today is kind of tricky because I drink wine but Zach does not drink wine
and when I was planning this day out I started my research five days before coming here which was
not enough time to actually make a reservation for a wine tasting at a winery so that's my bad.
But the reason why I chose Calistoga to visit instead of all of the other small towns in Napa
Valley is because it has a beautiful park that has a geyser like an old faithful type of geyser.
There's only three geysers that regularly go off in the United States and Calistoga has one and I
thought that was just so unique and so interesting so I did my research on Calistoga. I like that
it's like farther up here where it's kind of removed from the main tourist attractions of Napa
and I didn't know it was going to be so beautiful but now that we're here it's absolutely gorgeous
so I'm really happy we chose it. We are getting wine today. I have made a reservation to pick up
wine so we're heading to the Tank Garage Winery to pick up a $25 bottle of wine
and it happens to be rosé and I'm very excited.
You guys we found a freaking redwood in Napa Valley. Oh my gosh it's so cool. Look at that.
Next to the train which is normally used for wine tours I think that's one of the coolest things you
can do is like go across this great landscape. I didn't realize this valley was this beautiful.
I've only been in the southern part before. There's a bunch of like mountain cliffs right here.
In addition to that there's all these hotels that are advertising mud baths which I didn't know
was a glamorous thing to do but I guess it is and that kind of makes sense why
this geyser is here. Maybe this is more mountain town and more rustic than normal Napa Valley is.
Thank you so much. Have a good one. We did it. We did it. We bought wine in Napa Valley.
This is so funny because like this is like just choosing which winery to go to or like
what wine to drink is such a process because there's too many options you know what I mean
and so as like a person when there are too many options it's like overwhelming and there's no
way to choose. So like focusing on this town and then trying to find the most like
cute winery was the easiest path for me to purchase wine. All right here's the unveiling
you guys. Tankerage Winery. Again it's an adorable little winery. They are having tastings right now
but we didn't get a reservation for that. So are you ready? This is I'm so excited because this
bottle is so like 90s punk. Just like it's a bottle of rosé. It just has like a gold necklace with
baby on it like it's so good. So this was $25 for this beautiful bottle of rosé. So a lot
of wineries do this where you can go on their website and like choose to pick up wine and that's
like a really nice option especially for people on a budget because then you can like shop around
you know what I mean like you're not going to get tied into a bottle of wine that costs $50
because you already know the price of what you're buying you know like you already know the prices
on the bottles of wine and this is honestly like the better option for us because Zach doesn't
drink like a basic wine tasting usually ranges from like 10 to 30 dollars. Yeah you get to
you get to try a lot of different wines which is really cool so that's like a plus but if you're
with someone who doesn't necessarily drink are they going to charge you just to be there? You
know what I mean? So it's just kind of tricky. So I'm really happy with the option that we chose.
We have $25 worth of rosé and now we're gonna head up to
the geyser and have a picnic with our rosé.
Okay we just got here and Zach says he's already seen the geyser go off
so I'm thinking this is gonna be very promising and we're gonna see this
geyser go off like multiple times while we're here.
Okay we just got in. I'm so excited. This place is everything. It has a geyser
one of three in the entire world that goes off on a regular basis.
It has farm animals and you can come here and like bring wine and food and you can just have
a picnic and it's gonna be so much fun and it's a beautiful day and I'm just so happy to be here.
This is amazing. They have all these villas with like seating and a picnic area and
like plenty of places just to sit down and like enjoy yourself and the great outdoors and the
beautiful scenery that's surrounding us right now right in front of this geyser and it's so
cool. I've never been to a geyser. Zach's been to Yellowstone so he's seen the whole like like
true old faithful like the really really big one. I don't think people know that this exists here
in Calistoga like this is really really remarkable. And we have our lunch and of
course I brought a cheese board because it is way fitting for this occasion. Wine and cheese
and fresh fruit in the great outdoors. I definitely did my research and I was like
what cheese goes with rosé and apparently soft cheeses do so I got some goat cheese.
We have some hard cheddar because Zach likes cheddar and he's not drinking but I'm going to
have some of this goat cheese and we have sesame crackers from Trader Joe's. But yeah goat cheese
and rosé. Who knew? Honestly this is what I thought California was going to be like when we came here.
Just like great weather all the time. Doesn't matter when you're here. The skies are so blue.
The palm trees make it look so elegant like this feels like a different world. Is this what you
thought you would do now in Napa Valley with me? This is not what I thought what I'd do in Napa
Valley. When I came here with my mother it was very high class and so I thought that's what we're
going for but this is a lot more rustic and real. Also I did a good job? Yeah. Yay!
How do people do it? You have to smell yes the oaky flavor. Not oaky. You gotta smell the barrel.
What am I? You're trying to smell the barrel. That's cheating. You have to swirl your wine.
That's cheating. You can't smell out of the bottle. It smells smells of watermelon,
strawberry, and rose petal. Oh my gosh guys. It has oh look look and it's like dripping. It's
kind of thick. That's good right? I took a wine class in college. It's like no very little. When
people think of rosé I think they're like oh that's gonna be sweet. Not sweet. It smells sweet
though. This is actually really good. This is like really really good. This is way better than I
thought it was going to be. You gotta cover up your face. Can you see me still? Come back in.
Wine and cheese. My dream come true. So this whole experience we've been on a budget right?
To enter into this park with this geyser if you go online and you go onto their website it's $15
per person but my secret here was that I went on to Groupon and it was my first time on Groupon
like this isn't even an ad for Groupon. They had one for this place that brought it down to um it
was like $17 for two people. I was like well that's great that's like almost half the price
for each ticket and then on top of that I found a promo code so it brought the whole thing down
to $12.50. So now we're here in this park for $6.25 each. Like that's crazy. That's a crazy price
for a pretty cool experience like that's like the actual amount that I would be willing to pay to
get in here. So here we are on a budget. We got in here for $6.25 each and we have a $25 bottle of
wine. We brought our own cheese board. We bought $3.50 worth of tangerines at the farmer's market.
A few postcards and a few sticks of honey and yeah man this is a budget-friendly Napa Valley day.
Man. Goat cheese. Goats over there. We're gonna go pet some goats now.
You are so cute.
I love your little beard. You are so adorable. You don't even have hair. You are so cute.
Hello. Hi. Oh my god. They're so sweet. Hi.
Sheep. Are these horns? These are like four horned. Oh yeah.
They even have a place to wash your hands after petting goats. Great. And that is it for our
budget-friendly Napa Valley day. This was such a success. Like if you really take a hard look at
our expenses today, we're spending $65 a night to stay in San Francisco. We spent maybe $20 on gas
for the round trip. $12 to get into this amazing park. $25 on wine and like $5 at the farmer's
market. So I'd say like I don't really know what that actually adds up to but that's a pretty
budget-friendly conscious day here in Napa Valley. This was so much fun. Thanks for watching.
Germs. Wow. Majestic. Majestically crowned. Majestically. This is just really nice.
I feel like this is what you should be doing in Napa. It's just like relaxing.
I think we did this right.
