Igal dance is a traditional dance of the east coast Bajau in Semporna, state of Sabah.

Igal (dance) or Mag-igal (dancing) is an integral part of Bajau Laut rituals such as Magpaii-bahau and Magpaigal-Jinn. Apart from these rituals, igal is also performed for secular events, such as at weddings and festive celebrations including the annual Regatta Lepa Festival held since 1994. The development of the tourism industry in Semporna has brought igal to another level of performance, which requires local dance troupes and choreographers to modify the traditional way of performing the igal.

Modern choreographic elements and other influences have been incorporated in this traditionally sacred dance to create and present a “spectacular” performance for a wider audience with different needs and expectations.

Hybridisation has produced a new form of authenticity in the performance of igal in its staged presentational forms, which also symbolises dynamism occurring in the Semporna's Bajau social and cultural processes.
