Hey, my name is Chelsea. I'm here with 80% Arms and I'm here to show you how easy it is to mill out a lower receiver using the Generation 3 Jig.
And that's how you go from a hunk of aluminum to a full functional firearm. It's really just that simple.
Hi, I'm Jeff, Operations Manager with 80% Arms. Today I am going to show you how to assemble the Gen 3 Easy Jig to get ready to mill an 80% lower.
Once you open up your Gen 3 Easy Jig, you're going to find the following components.
The walls, main plate, AR-15 and 308 takedown pins, hardware set, router plate, front takedown pin adapter, router side block adapter, drill block, buffer screw, and buffer screw support.
I know this looks like a lot, but we'll be milling a lower in no time.
The first step we're going to do is we're going to assemble the sidewalls to the main plate using the six Phillips head screws that come in the hardware set.
When you're assembling the sidewalls, make sure that the plate creates a hole. The largest hole is facing near you.
When you're assembling the sidewalls to the top plate, you can alternate the screws so that you're tightening them all evenly.
Once the sidewalls are assembled, we're going to assemble the front takedown adapter to the front of the main plate.
Pay attention to the orientation of the pivot pin block. There's only one orientation that this can go.
Use the two Phillips head screws, similar to the ones that we used for the side plate, to attach the front pivot pin.
Next, we're going to screw in the buffer screw support. Make sure that you're using the 964 hex key to install this buffer support.
You're going to want to loosely thread the buffer support.
Since we're milling an AR-15 today, you're installing the buffer support in the AR-15 location.
If you're milling a 308 receiver, you would install it in the rear location.
You want to leave the buffer screw support loosely threaded for the next step.
Flip the jig upside down, and we're going to install the AR-15 lower.
Gently place the lower so that it's lined up with the front takedown pin and the rear buffer support.
Then, you're able to put the front takedown pin through the front pivot pin of the lower receiver, and you can flip the jig around.
Once the lower is installed, you're going to loosely thread the buffer screw into the rear of the receiver.
Next, you're going to take the 764 Allen wrench, and you're going to hand-tighten the rear screws of the buffer support.
Once the buffer screw support is fully tightened, you can take the Allen key and slide it through the buffer support to put extra leverage on and hand-tighten the buffer screw.
For the next step, we're going to be taking the drill block and installing the drill block into the main plate using the two Phillips head screws that are remaining in the hardware set.
Now that the jig is ready to go, we're going to assemble the router plate for the router.
First, you want to remove the stock router plate.
To install the router side block adapter, take the thumb screw off the router and slide the router side block adapter onto the side of the router.
Once that's installed, you're able to install the router adapter plate.
Loosely thread three screws into the front and the rear screw holes.
Now that you have the router plate loosely attached to the router base, you're going to take the router base off of the router and install the speed mill.
Ensure that you're leaving the plastic protector on the speed mill.
The carbide end mill is very fragile and also very sharp and can touch you if you're not careful.
Next, you can reinstall and tighten the router base.
You can now tighten the router plate.
Next, you will be installing the router guide pins to the router base.
Since we were working on step one, you will install the small guide pins to the router.
Everything's set up and ready to go.
Check out the next video as we turn this 80% lower into a functioning firearm.
Hey guys, it's Jeff again with 80% Arms.
Today, I'm in an underground bunker showing you how to take an 80% lower into a fully functioning firearm.
The first step that we're going to do is drill a pilot hole.
But first, make sure you put proper eye protection on.
Before you drill the pilot hole, make sure you use some WD-40.
Then, you can use a 21-64 drill bit and start drilling the pilot hole.
We just finished drilling the pilot hole and removed the drill block.
Next step, we're going to measure the router onto the first hash mark.
We're going to use a little lubricant.
Firmly grasp the router and place the end mill into the pilot hole.
Now, you're ready to start milling.
We just completed the first pass.
For each additional one, you will want to move the end mill one tick mark.
Spray with the WD-40.
Then, you're ready to mill the rest of the lower.
Now that we've finished milling step one,
we're going to install the medium pins on the router plate and continue milling like we have been.
Now that we're done with step two, we're moving on to step three.
We're changing out the medium guide pins to large guide pins.
We're going to continue milling the trigger hole.
We only have a couple of passes until we're done milling the lower.
The next step is to drill the 3-8 and 5-32 holes on the side of the jig.
You're going to take the jig and clip it onto its side.
You're ready to start drilling the 3-8 hole.
Now that we have the 3-8 hole drilled,
we're ready to move on to the 5-32 drill using the same method.
Now, we're going to flip the jig over and repeat the same steps.
Just like that, we have a completed lower receiver.
Please obey all local and state regulations.
Thank you so much for joining the 80% Army and for supporting the Second Amendment.
