An estimated 65,000 organ transplants were conducted in China between the years of 2000 and 2005. The majority of the organs are known to have come from prisoners, but about 40,000 operations used organs of unknown origin. On September 12, 2012, the United States Congress held a hearing to investigate organ harvesting of religious and political dissidents in China. It is estimated that over half of the 300,000 believed in the Logai prisons are inmates who happen to be part of the Falun Gong. Thousands have been killed and their organs ripped out of their body while they were still warm and transplanted into the bodies of rich Chinese and foreign accomplices. On October 4th, 106 congressmen signed a letter urging the State Department to make public any information regarding forced live organ harvesting.
