A thousand years ago, a great battle between good and evil took place in the heavenly realm. The Sacred King of the Dragon Clan sent troops to provide support. The battle was fierce, with countless casualties.
Countless members of the Dragon God Clan perished and fell into the mortal realm. Their souls wandered in search of virtuous human beings with whom they could form a connection, drawing upon their righteous energy for support. This was known as a “Dragon Destiny.”
Unwilling to see his dragon warriors disappear into the mortal world, the Sacred King of the Dragon Clan abdicated his throne after the great victory and also descended into the human world to search for the dragon souls. He never returned.
During the reign of Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty, a girl named Jia’er was born into a life filled with hardship.
When she was still a baby, she was secretly taken and adopted by a married couple who practiced fortune-telling, simply because they had discovered that she possessed a rare “Dragon Destiny.”
A girl with Dragon Destiny could attract dragon souls to form a connection with her, bringing wealth and prosperity to her family and clan. After a dragon soul formed a connection with Jia’er, however, her unscrupulous adoptive parents cast a spell that sealed the dragon soul inside her body.
