Yu's Reincarnation Stories: Ximen Bao and the River God

One of our members asked us about how she and Yu Menglong became connected through reincarnation. With her permission, we are sharing this reincarnation story with everyone:

You were once a great deity in the Divine Beast Heaven within the Three Realms. The divine beasts in this heavenly realm correspond to the various animals on Earth.

During the Warring States period, the people of Ye County in the State of Wei, located in what is now the area around the border of Hebei and Henan, lived in extreme hardship, and the population was sparse.

After Ximen Bao was appointed magistrate of Ye County by Marquis Wen of Wei, he immediately went among the people and asked the local elders about the reasons behind their suffering.

The elders told him that it was all because of a superstitious practice known as “the River God’s Marriage.”

What they did not know was that the victim also included the River God herself—your previous incarnation.

At that time, the River God was a beautiful goddess. Why would she need to take a wife?
