Welcome to NTD Evening News. Our top story tonight, the U.S. and Israel maintaining
pressure against the Iranian regime and President Trump now delaying strikes on Iran's power plants.
Jason Perry with the war update. The Justice Department is set to argue before the Supreme
Court this week in favor of President Trump's executive order to restrict birthright citizenship.
Arlene Richards breaks down the key arguments. And after six weeks, TSA agents start getting
paid again. Some airport lines are looking better already, but the DHS shutdown still drags on.
Jason Blair reports. This is NTD Evening News, live from our global headquarters in New York City.
Here's Tiffany Meyer. Good evening and thank you for joining us tonight. The U.S. and Israel
keeping up the pressure on the Iranian regime as Operation Epic Fury continues. In following talks
with Iran, President Trump says he's now delaying strikes on Iran's power plants.
NTD's Jason Perry has the latest war update. The United States and Israel continuing joint
military operations against the Iranian regime, with U.S. forces recently saying they've struck
more than 11,000 targets so far. And on Monday, Israel reporting it launched about 400 strikes on
Iran in a 24-hour period. White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt on Monday saying
it's no surprise that the Iranian regime is increasingly eager to negotiate an end to the war.
Despite all of the public posturing you hear from the regime and false reporting, talks are
continuing and going well. As a result, President Trump issued a 10-day pause to postpone planned
strikes on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure. Leavitt also explaining what
President Trump meant when he said Iranian officials seem to be much more reasonable.
When the president says more reasonable, again, these folks are appearing more reasonable behind
the scenes privately in these conversations than perhaps some of the previous leaders who are now
no longer on planet Earth because they lied to the United States and they strung us along in
negotiations and that was unacceptable to the president, which is why many of the previous
leaders were killed. However, Iran continues to launch missiles at Israel and other countries in
the region. Debris from an intercepted Iranian missile hit this oil refinery in northern Israel
and another Iranian missile hit a house in northern Israel, in which authorities say
there were no casualties. And photos were released on Sunday showing a damaged U.S. Air Force
aircraft that was reportedly hit by an Iranian missile while on a tarmac in Saudi Arabia.
This comes as the crown prince of Saudi Arabia hosts the leaders of Qatar and Jordan on Monday.
They're expected to discuss the latest developments in the region as the war in Iran continues.
And in a related development, Israeli forces battling the Iran-backed Hezbollah terrorist
group in Lebanon reported striking over 100 buildings in the Beirut area. Israeli forces
have vowed to take over part of southern Lebanon as they accuse the Lebanese government of not
doing enough to stop Hezbollah from launching attacks at Israel. However, in a diplomatic shift,
Lebanon recently expelled the Iranian ambassador from the country. However, the Iranian envoy did
not leave Lebanon. Iran says he will continue his work as Iran's ambassador and will remain in Beirut.
Jason Perry, NTV News. Multiple European nations say reopening the Strait of Hormuz is crucial at
this time, and Iran once again firing a ballistic missile toward NATO territory. NTV's international
correspondent Arian Pozdar has the latest on how the Iran war is impacting countries across the globe.
We are working on a viable plan for the Straits of Hormuz, which I want to come back to.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer saying reopening the Strait of Hormuz is the single
most effective way to bring down energy prices. Well, it is our duty to protect British citizens,
particularly their concern will be not just the escalation of the war, but this sense that it's
going to hit them and their families and their households. And I think probably up most in
their minds at the moment is energy bills. The chancellor of Germany also placing high
importance on reopening Hormuz, suggesting Germany would assist a U.S. plan to reopen the Strait.
Germany will, of course, be ready to make its contribution to ensuring freedom of navigation
in the Strait of Hormuz. We have already put forward extensive proposals on this matter.
I would expressly suggest that we do so within the framework of an international contact group.
Also on Monday, Iran once again firing a ballistic missile toward NATO territory.
A spokesperson for the Western Alliance saying NATO again successfully intercepted the missile
heading to Turkey. The spokesperson added that NATO is prepared for such threats and will do
what is necessary to defend its allies. And the prime minister of Spain saying the
nation's airports are closed to all U.S. planes connected to the Iran war.
All flight plans that involved actions related to the operation in Iran were rejected,
every single one of them, including those of refueling aircraft.
NTD sister media, the Epoch Times, received a White House statement on the matter.
The White House says the U.S. is meeting all of its goals in Iran and does not need help from
Spain or anyone else. And the prime minister of Australia saying he wants the U.S. to outline
its exact plans for Iran. I would like to see the Iranian regime that I regard as abhorrent
and reprehensible replaced. And I certainly stand with the Iranian people. And Ukrainian
President Vladimir Zelensky completing a Middle East tour over the weekend, meeting with multiple
heads of state. Zelensky says they agreed on military cooperation in various areas as nations
in the region are facing attacks from Iran, similar to how Ukraine is facing attacks from Russia.
We have agreed on strategic cooperation in the field of military technology and other areas.
We are talking about 10-year agreements. This is mutual assistance, undoubtedly.
We are also interested in anti-ballistic activities.
He added that the agreements still have to be legally formalized. Arian Pasdar, NTD News.
Spain has now closed its airspace to U.S. planes involved in Operation Epic Fury.
What does this mean for the military and how should the U.S. respond?
Analysis from Ambassador Scott Brown tonight on Capitol Report with Steve Lance at 7 p.m.
An oil tanker from Russia has arrived in Cuba amid the U.S. blockage.
President Trump has approved the relief for the people of Cuba. The president pushing back on
a reporter who asked whether allowing the Russian oil tanker would help Russian President Vladimir
Putin. I said I don't care if he loses one boatload of oil. That's all it is. If he wants to do that
and if other countries want to do it, it doesn't bother me much. It's not going to have an impact.
Cuba's finished. They have a bad regime. They have very bad and corrupt leadership.
And whether or not they get a boat of oil, it's not going to matter. I prefer letting it in,
whether it's Russia or anybody else, because the people need heat and cooling and all of
the other things that you need. The Russian oil tanker is carrying 100,000 metric tons of crude
oil. The Trump administration has effectively cut Cuba off from key oil shipments. Cuba's
president says fuel shortages have dragged on for months, forcing strict rationing and worsening a
nationwide energy crisis. The situation intensified after the removal of Venezuelan leader Nicolas
Maduro in January, cutting off a key source of subsidized oil to the island. Trump says the
communist island will fall within a short period of time and that the U.S. will be there to help
it out. Meanwhile, the United States reopening its embassy in Caracas, Venezuela, the move following
the restoration of full diplomatic relations between the two countries. The embassy had been
closed for seven years. The State Department says normal operations resume today. A small team of
U.S. diplomats had already been working in Caracas for over a month. Officials say the move is part
of a broader plan for Venezuela, the State Department calling it a key milestone. Coming
up in the Supreme Court, the justices will hear oral arguments on Wednesday in one of the highest
profile cases of this term. It involves a challenge to President Trump's January 2025
executive order seeking to restrict birthright citizenship. Lower courts have paused the order,
but the president immediately appealed it. NTD's Arne Richards has more on the key arguments in
the case. Ending birthright citizenship, which now comes to the fore. The Trump administration
is poised to argue on Wednesday that the Constitution has been fundamentally misunderstood
for decades. The Supreme Court will hear the administration's arguments on whether the
president's January 2025 executive order seeking to end birthright citizenship complies with the
citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment. Since the late 1800s, the understanding of the clause
has been that virtually everyone born in the United States is entitled to U.S. citizenship,
regardless of their parents' citizenship status. That was meant for the babies of slaves. It wasn't
meant for people trying to scam the system and come into the country on a vacation. The president
echoing his thoughts in a Truth Social post on Monday and saying we are the only country in the
world that dignifies this subject with even discussion. In court filings, the Justice
Department explained that the clause was adopted to confer citizenship on the newly freed slaves
and their children, not on the children of immigrants temporarily visiting the United States
or of illegal immigrants. The plaintiffs are a class of non-citizens living in the U.S.
who fear their unborn children won't become U.S. citizens. They argue that the citizenship
clause reaffirms a centuries-old common law tradition of citizenship by virtue of birth
and that the executive order attempts a radical rewriting of the 14th Amendment.
The long-standing interpretation of the clause is complicating President Trump's immigration policy.
Hundreds of thousands of people are pouring into our country under birthright citizenship,
and it wasn't meant for that reason. Much of the debate about the clause focuses on a particular
phrase. To qualify for birthright citizenship, a child must not only be born in the United States,
but also subject to the jurisdiction thereof. This week, the Supreme Court will likely try
to find out what that phrase was intended to mean. Arlene Richards, NTD News.
TSA agents have started receiving paychecks today following a memorandum from the president.
This is while the Department of Homeland Security is in the sixth week of a shutdown.
Security lines at some airports are already showing signs of improvement. The White House
is calling it ridiculous that action from the president was necessary in order to pay TSA
employees and is urging Congress to come back from their break to end the shutdown.
NTD correspondent Jason Blair has more.
It's because of the president that TSA agents are being paid, but again,
he's calling on Congress to do the right thing, to come back to Washington,
and to fund and reopen the Department of Homeland Security fully.
The Department of Homeland Security says that after six weeks, TSA agents began
getting paid again on Monday. President Trump signed a memorandum last week
to allow the DHS to use funds to get the TSA workers a paycheck.
The president worked with his legal team here at the White House and the Office of Management and
Budget to find a solution. Levitt called it ridiculous that
the president had to take these steps. It is the job of Congress to fund these
agencies, and Democrats in Congress have voted seven times against funding the
Department of Homeland Security. Congressional Democrats are demanding
changes to ICE. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer says, we've been clear from day one,
Democrats will fund critical Homeland Security functions,
but we will not give a blank check to ICE without reforms.
Essential workers from other agencies like FEMA, the Coast Guard, and CISA are continuing to work
without paychecks. The DHS shutdown is now in its sixth week, with Congress still stalled on funding.
Meanwhile, the White House has deployed ICE agents to help at understaffed airports.
Agents have been spotted checking IDs and boarding passes, assisting with luggage,
and handing out water. There are reports that TSA lines at Atlanta and Houston airports have
improved significantly as of Monday, with some others also showing signs of improvement.
The TSA union says workers will need a few days to get their lives back in order.
It's still going to take a little time for everybody to revamp their finances and get back up in order.
The Senate came back from recess on Monday morning and held a short meeting,
but did not talk about DHS funding. They are adjourned until Thursday,
so most likely we won't have any major updates until then.
Reporting in Washington, D.C., Jason Blair, Entity News.
Today, the FBI detailed its investigation into this month's attack on a Michigan synagogue.
Officials say the assailant was inspired by Hezbollah.
According to investigators, a review of the assailant's online activity revealed a search
history of pro-Hezbollah news channels, Iranian news channels, and videos about shootouts.
The FBI added that the day before the attack, the assailant created a Facebook photo album
entitled Vengeance. The album included images of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khomeini
and Hezbollah's former Secretary General. The assailant also posted photos of family members
who were killed in an Israeli airstrike. Israel said the strike targeted his brother,
a Hezbollah commander. Investigators added that he sent his sister a video of himself,
telling her that he would kill as many people at the synagogue as he could.
Congress is beginning a two-week recess. Meanwhile, DHS remains partially shut down,
and key legislation, including the Save America Act, are on hold until lawmakers
return on April 13th. Entity's Chris Bobb has more from Washington.
44 days into the partial shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security,
Congress is heading out for a two-week recess.
Lawmakers are not scheduled to return until April 13th. In the meantime, TSA agents are
being paid again, thanks to an executive order from President Trump. But across the rest of the
DHS, including CISA, non-essential work remains paused, with employees either furloughed or
working without pay. When they return, Congress will need to pass a funding bill that both parties
and both chambers agree to. There's also a fight over Pfizer reauthorization,
broader budget negotiations tied to reconciliation, and the Save America Act,
which would require proof of citizenship to register to vote, as well as voter ID to cast
a ballot at the polls. The Senate will hold only four pro forma sessions during the recess,
brief meetings where no substantive legislation is expected to pass, as any single senator can
block action. Their decision to leave D.C. is drawing criticism from both parties. Senator
Mike Lee wrote, College students go on spring break. The Senate shouldn't. House Minority
Leader Hakeem Jeffries calling for the House to return and end the shutdown at DHS as well.
Even within the Republican Party, frustration is emerging. Lee added,
Congress, especially the Senate, cannot skate by relying on President Trump to solve all our
problems. Republicans have to justify their majorities by fighting for permanent policy
victories, not can-kicking with unrealistic reconciliation promises. If we do not stand
and fight today, we will not inspire Americans in November. For now, Congress remains technically
in session, but functionally stalled. When lawmakers return on April 13th,
they'll be walking into a backlog. Reporting from Washington, D.C., Chris Bobb, NTD News.
Another round of No Kings rallies taking place across the country this past weekend. Some of
the key attendees reportedly include communist and socialist groups, funded by Neville Roy
Meanwhile, some protesters were carrying flags emblazoned with the hammer and sickle symbol.
How concerned should Americans be about communist influence in our society?
NTD's Sam Wong was out on the National Mall in D.C. to hear from the people.
What's your reaction to all these No Kings protests happening across the country over the weekend?
Pure silliness. Just what a joke. What a joke. The guy's finally doing the job that has to be done
and stepping in and somebody's got to take some leadership.
And if it looks like kingship to the liberals, then so be it.
I think he's challenging because he's got an agenda and a lot of people disagree with it.
It's difficult when you've got so many divisions across either party.
Why are you protesting something that doesn't exist? I mean, there is No Kings. Trump would
be the first one to say that. He was elected by the people to do the job. He's doing a great job.
I don't understand the relevance of a No Kings protest.
It's another reason for people who don't have a job to come out and get together and
to just tell each other how great they are. And that's all it is. It's propaganda and
I don't pay much attention to it. I don't think they should be running
my trip to Washington, D.C. or anywhere. I mean, you want to bring tourists into cities.
I don't want to see that. Over the weekend,
we saw a lot of people parading with a communist flag and then we're also seeing some really
organizations that have ties to the Chinese Communist Party that are backing this whole
movement. What do you make of that? How concerned do you think we should be about that?
I think we should be concerned. I think that America first. That's why everyone's coming
here is for the freedom and the values and the benefits of being an American.
Yet they're going to pollute that with the ideologies that they're bringing with them.
I think there's all sorts of ideologies all around the world looking to compete with
capitalism and the West and do our best to stand up for what we believe.
Follow the money. It's probably George Soros somewhere who's got his hand in it.
If you're American and this is your home or you're making money from this country,
then your allegiance should be here. Well, I'm not surprised by anything anymore.
Look at New York. We've got a communist in there. We've got to have our own country,
our own rules, our own laws, and we shouldn't be influenced by foreign governments and foreign
players. The White House has released a new app to provide Americans with the latest news

Angeles County. New census data shows a significant population shift with tens of
thousands leaving. Christina Corona reports from El Monte, California. And another fake bomb threat
targeting U.S.-based Shenzhen Performing Arts, this time canceling a performance in Toronto,
even though there was no credible threat. The organizers are condemning the Chinese
Communist Party for the incident. Jack Bradley with the details next.

over policies that allow boys to compete in girl sports.
The DOJ accuses the state's Department of Education and High School Sports League of
violating Title IX. According to the complaint, Minnesota has engaged in sex-based discrimination
by requiring girls to compete against boys in athletic competitions. The lawsuit also accuses
the state of allowing boys to access girls' locker rooms and bathrooms. Title IX prohibits sex-based
discrimination in any education program or activity that receives federal funding. According to the DOJ,
Minnesota's Education Department receives more than three billion dollars of federal money annually.
In a post on X, Attorney General Pam Bondi said, quote, this DOJ acknowledges biological reality
and we refuse to let high school girls be subjected to this treatment. Bondi continued,
quote, it's not only unfair, it's deeply inappropriate and dangerous. New census data
shows Los Angeles County had the largest population decline in the nation last year.
Nearly 54,000 residents moved out, continuing a multi-year downward trend. Entity's Christina
Corona has the details. Los Angeles County saw the largest population decline in the U.S. in 2025.
According to new U.S. census data released March 26th, with thousands of people leaving in just
one year. Nearly 54,000 people moved out of Los Angeles County between July 2024 and July 2025.
This continues a trend that's been building for years. The population has dropped from more than
10 million in 2020 to just under 9.7 million, census estimates show. It's unclear where many
of those residents are going. One L.A. County resident who asked to not be on camera said she
believes that many people are leaving because they can no longer afford to rent or buy. She said
home ownership now feels out of reach, but nearby Riverside and San Bernardino counties gained more
than 21,000 people combined. The Las Vegas area also added more than 21,000 residents last year.
Despite the decline, L.A. County remains the most populous in the nation, nearly double the size of
the next largest, Cook County, Illinois, with about 5.2 million residents. The data shows the
decline is continuing as thousands choose to leave each year. Reporting from the City of Almonte,
Christina Corona, NTD News. Coming up, as the Supreme Court prepares to hear oral arguments

Welcome back. I'm Tiffany Meyer. Today, President Trump renewing his criticism
of birthright citizenship as the Supreme Court prepares to hear oral arguments on Wednesday.
The president's executive order restricting birthright citizenship is being challenged.
This case has the power to literally change the meaning of what it means to be an American.
Joining us now is Chuck DeVore, Chief National Initiatives Officer at the Texas Public Policy
Foundation. Chuck, thank you so much for joining us. Great to see you again. Now,
there's a lot of debate about the 14th Amendment's passage subject to the jurisdiction thereof,
but I want to focus on the evidence we're seeing of people gaming the system as it stands.
Here's how author of The Invisible Coup, Peter Schweitzer, put it during a Senate hearing.
Birth tourism is essentially an industry that provides concierge service at every step of the
way for a foreign national, in this case, China, to pay the firm roughly $100,000. They will
transport them to the United States, arrange medical care, arrange for citizenship for the
child, and as soon as the child is old enough to travel, they will return back to China.
The scope of this is industrial.
Chuck, what are the risks of allowing the law to be used in this way?
I think it's really important that Americans understand that this isn't just about large
numbers of illegal immigrants and chain migration. In the case of China with the Chinese Communist
Party, we're talking about something that's been going on for about 10 years with up to 150,000
people a year being born in America. So the estimates range from about 750,000 to 1.5
million people holding dual citizenship in both China and in the United States.
This is a problem, of course, because China demands complete obedience for its citizens.
So if China asks you, for example, to steal military secrets or to do any sort of espionage
or sabotage against the United States, you have to do it. So this is a growing problem.
It's also connected to birth tourism. So in other words, once that person turns 21,
they can sponsor people potentially and bring them into the United States.
So this is a big problem, and I'm glad that Congress is finally beginning to grapple with it.
Now, expanding on your point based on some of his collected data,
Schweitzer estimates that roughly 1 million, quote unquote,
U.S. citizens are being raised in China today. Now, these are people who could
freely come to the U.S. and vote in elections, local, state, federal. Your reaction to that?
Well, yeah, and that's just the tip of the iceberg because, of course,
we're also dealing with espionage. We're also dealing potentially with warfare. And it's
important to understand that warfare takes many different forms. China has been quite adept
in laying out their unconventional or unrestricted warfare concepts for decades now.
So it's very important that we get a handle on this and we figure out
how to reduce it regardless as to what the U.S. Supreme Court rules.
And some of the things that can be done, for example, is you can crack down on the B visas
that are being issued to people. For example, you could require pregnancy testing from certain high
nations. You can crack down on some of these surrogacy mills because this isn't just about
people coming here from China eight months pregnant. This is also about contracting for
people to give birth here in America who are American citizens and are being paid
to give birth to babies. So these are some of the things that we can crack down on.
In addition, we need to have a one visa, one nation proposal. This has been proposed by
Senator Scott. I understand Representative Tiffany and my own representative Chip Roy
have proposed this as well. And this takes on the challenge of the Commonwealth of the Northern
Marianas Territories. The Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands, pardon me,
has been allowing a lot of Chinese nationals to come in, give birth to people who are by law U.S.
citizens, and then they go back home. And digging into action that could take place on the state
level. For example, we do know that surrogacy companies are allegedly playing a big role in
this industry. In one case, the Wall Street Journal reported that Xu Bo, the founder of a
Chinese gaming company, fathered more than 100 children in the U.S. via surrogacy. Now we can't
independently verify that number, but this isn't an isolated report. So to your earlier point,
elaborate on how states and officials can crack down on the surrogacy aspect here.
Well, certainly surrogacy is completely regulated by state law. And while there certainly is
legitimate cases for surrogacy where you have a couple who are unable because of biological
reasons that they can't conceive of the child, it has been something that's been terribly abused
by frequently Chinese nationals with a lot of money. Now, let me say there is one aspect of this
that isn't completely malevolent, at least from the Chinese standpoint. And that's the fact
that there are a lot of Chinese with money who are trying to shelter their money. They're trying
to give their children better opportunity than they would have if they were purely a Chinese
citizen. So I think some instances of this may be from the standpoint of someone wanting an
opportunity for their child to actually live a better life in America. It's so important,
very much important to understand, though, that China's laws still hold sway over that individual.
And if they were enjoying being an American too much, the government would threaten their
parents or other relatives that remain back in China. And Chuck, Pew Research conducted a poll
last year asking Americans whether people born in the U.S. to parents who immigrated here illegally
should have U.S. citizenship. It was a clear split down the middle. Why do you think people
are so divided on this issue? Well, two reasons. I don't think Americans have been much educated
as to how much this has been abused, number one. And number two, Americans like the idea of people
becoming American. You know, we're a generous and open-hearted people. So until they're presented
with clear evidence of the dangers and the abuse of this process, it's going to remain
a split like you see in that poll. Well, Chuck DeVore, thank you so much for joining us.
Thank you. American performing arts company Shen Yun faced another fake bomb threat over the weekend,
this time in Toronto. And the theater canceled the show, even though police determined that
the threat was a hoax. The organizers say it's part of the Chinese Communist Party's efforts
to shut down the performances. NTD's Washington correspondent Jack Bradley has more. So our show
got canceled today, and because the theater received multiple bomb threat emails, and we
had to evacuate. But these threats, once again, were all false. Another fake bomb threat targeting
New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts. On Sunday, as they were scheduled to perform at Toronto's
Four Seasons Center, a fake bomb threat resulted in the theater canceling the performance.
No bomb went off, and police deemed it an empty threat. The organizers say this is part of a
trend of the Chinese regime targeting the show to deter people from seeing it, saying the incident
is not isolated and part of a coordinated global campaign of Chinese Communist Party-directed
transnational repression against Shen Yun Performing Arts. Canadian Member of Parliament Roman Baber
was looking forward to the performance and condemned the CCP after the show was canceled
due to the hoax. This is most atrocious, especially on the days when we're talking
about Chinese interference in Canadian democracy. This is unacceptable, downtown Toronto. Now,
although these threats are fake, the theater is boosting security for the remaining shows
in an abundance of caution. At about a half hour drive away, Shen Yun was targeted with another fake
bomb threat as it was about to perform at Mississauga's Living Arts Center earlier this
month. Police there also found no evidence of a credible threat. Over the past two years,
organizers say Shen Yun has received over 150 fake bomb and death threats from anonymous CCP agents,
saying all threats have proven to be hoaxes. The objective is intimidation to instill fear,
pressure venues, and disruptions of the shows that undermine democratic freedoms. Based on
past incidents, these false threats that Shen Yun has received have all been linked to the same
source, and you can probably guess what that is. I'm not a political person. I don't really talk
about these things, but the idea that outside influence can affect something like this in Canada,
that doesn't sit right with me. Shen Yun showcases China's traditional 5,000 years of culture,
which was suppressed for decades under the Communist Party. It also displays current
human rights abuses in China, another reason why the show isn't able to perform there,
and why the CCP aims to shut it down globally. Now, Shen Yun is celebrating its 20th anniversary
this year, performing in over 200 countries, and they continue to showcase the beauty of China
before communism, with what appears to be an unshakable determination
in the face of threats from the CCP. Reporting by Jack Bradley, NTD News.

There's a whirlwind of emotion and activity going on in this painting.
And there's chaos all around, and threat from below. The wolves surrounding her,
and they're anything but unmoved. They're moving all of it, and we sense that.
But this little girl remains unmoved.
She's in quite a perilous situation, but she's completely strong and serene,
and she's actually meditating. It was very, very well liked, because no matter what culture or
what sort of walk of life you're from, I think people, they see it and they immediately understand
what that energy, what that message is. And they're drawn to it, because everybody kind of
needs a little bit of that in their own life, of the steadfast calmness and something to hold on to.
It's definitely an inner peace in the midst of something very chaotic. And for a lot of people
right now, the whole world is very, very chaotic. So I guess that's another reason why so many
people are very drawn to this. There are real consequences to controlled media,
and NTD's founders know them firsthand. Our freedom of thought is the price.
This is the lesson that guides us in everything we do. We know the value of a free society,
and we take seriously the responsibility to preserve it. We are NTD.
And now for your sports news, we're joined by NTD's Dave Martin. Dave, we've got some baseball
and NBA news, but let's start in college basketball, because we had several big games
over the weekend. Let's start with that thrilling UConn-Duke game. How did the Huskies pull off that
win? You know, I think that's what Duke is still asking themselves 24 hours later. I mean, you
don't see teams come back from a 19-point deficit very often, even fewer in the NCAA tournament,
and very rare against Duke. But that's what UConn did yesterday. They trailed as many as 19 points
at several spots in the first half. They were down 15 at halftime. Even with six and a half minutes
left, it was still a 10-point game. Even with 10 seconds left, it looked bleak for UConn.
Duke was inbounding the ball up two, facing a trap, of course. I don't think Duke realized that
they didn't actually have to get the ball past half-court, though. Now, UConn trapped Jayden
Boozer right before the half-court line, deflected his pass, ended up stealing the ball, quickly got
up a very long three-pointer by Braylon Mullins right at the buzzer. Nothing but net. That was
the game. Now, if you look at, like, the box score, try to figure out how they pulled it off, it's really
tough to figure it out. I mean, Duke outshot them, they out-rebounded, and they had the same amount
of assists. The only thing that was different that UConn really won was the turnover battles. Only
five turnovers for UConn versus 13 for Duke, and it was that 13th one that was the dagger. So, the
Huskies, who won titles in 2023 and 2024, head back to the Final Four this year. They will face
Illinois in the National Semifinals. On Saturday, the Illini beat Iowa to an advance. So, very
thrilling game there, Tiff, in case you missed it. I hope you got the whole what went on just
from my verbiage in one of those photos we had there, all right? Got a lucky 13. Lucky, unlucky 13
for Duke. Well, it depends on who's looking at it. Exactly, yes. All right, well, looking at the other
Final Four matchup, we have a battle of top seats, Michigan versus Arizona. What do you make of this
matchup? Oh, this is definitely a heavyweight bout here. You know, these two have the highest
betting odds to win it, you know, two of the highest bidding, betting odds to start the
NCAA Tournament with Duke out. They now have the two highest betting odds left. Now, this is
really a Big 12 winner versus the Big 10 winner. Wildcats, 36-2 record. Wolverines, 35-3.
Both those teams really spent the majority of the season ranked somewhere in the top two or three of
the AP poll. Now, Arizona beat Purdue by 15 in the Elite Eight to advance here. Before that, they
handed John Calipari his worst NCAA Tournament loss ever, beating Arkansas by 21. They've won 13
straight games overall. Meanwhile, Michigan, they beat Tennessee X-Straight by 33 points. In fact,
they've won all four of their tournament games by an average of 22 points, scoring just over,
scoring at least 90 points in all four contests. Both teams average nearly 90 points a game. Both
are in the top 20 in the NCAA in scoring, so this should be a high-paced, fast, high-scoring,
fast-paced game for sure. So, the Final Four on Saturday. Ready for the start times here, Tiff?
UConn versus Illinois starts at 6.09 Eastern. Not 6.08 or 6.10, 6.09. They got to jump the
ball right then, and then that's going to be followed by Michigan versus Arizona, so it should
be very fun. Saturday night for all of us college basketball fans, all right? Is there a reason it
starts at that specific time? You know, I've always wondered that. I mean, do they need like nine
minutes after they start the show exactly before they can do the tip there? I've always wondered
that. It seems like every year it's one of those weird amount of times. I mean, why not just 6.15
or something like that? If I were incidentally president, I would change that, and yet another
thing I would do, all right? That's probably on the lower, lower list of things to do, but I would
do that for sure. We'll start putting it up behind you. Yeah, thank you. List, my to-do list for 2050
when I finally get in as president, okay? As president. As president, thank you. All right,
moving to baseball news, though. We are just days into the new season, and already new Mets
star Beau Bichette is hearing the boos from New York fans after a slow start. Yeah, Bichette 0-5
yesterday, three strikeouts in the Mets, 4-3 loss to the Pirates. Now, after he struck out with
runners in scoring position to end the seventh inning, he started hearing the boos from the
fans that way. He actually said he was surprised he didn't get booed earlier. Meanwhile, this is
just, of course, the third game of the season, but he's now 1-14 to start the year, but it's not just
the slow start. It's how he's getting out. Eight of those 13 outs for him have been via strikeout
that leads the major leagues. Now, Bichette signed as a free agent with the New York Mets in the
offseason. He got that three-year, $126 million deal. Now, he's been a shortstop his entire career,
but the Mets already have all-star Francisco Lindor at shortstop. They've put him at third
base. Maybe the new position change is kind of throwing him off, and we should have expected
this. In any case, though, Bichette, I mean, he normally boosts, you know, one of the best
bats in the majors. He led the league in hits twice. He's had three seasons of at least 20
home runs. He's got a career average of .293, but he has been prone to strikeouts in the past. In
2022, he had 155 strikeouts with the Toronto Blue Jays. That was the seventh most in the
American League, so maybe this isn't completely out of the ordinary. It's just kind of that
kind of the way it is with New York fans anyway, so he and the Mets do face the Cardinals tonight,
and we'll see if he can get the bat going. At least it'll be on the road,
so he won't have to hear it from New York fans. All right, well, we'll see if they follow him.
Shifting gears to the NBA, though, there's less than two weeks left in the regular season. Thus
far, four teams have secured playoff berths. How soon are we to seeing more spots clinched?
Well, they could be tonight. We've got some very complicated scenarios to go over for you here.
The New York Knicks are idle tonight, but if Philadelphia loses to Miami tonight,
the Knicks are in. The Knicks have a third-best record in the East at 48-27. Meanwhile, in the
West, the L.A. Lakers can clinch the playoff spot and win the division if they beat Washington. And
Phoenix loses to Memphis, and the Lakers are third in the Western Conference with a 48-26 record.
Also in the West, the Denver Nuggets, who are right behind L.A., can clinch a playoff spot
if the Lakers beat Phoenix and Phoenix wins over Memphis instead of loses. Nuggets have a 48-28
record. And finally, the Detroit Pistons have already clinched a playoff spot in the East
and can clinch a division title with a win at Oklahoma City or a Cleveland loss at
Utah tonight. You know, I was going to give you a test to see if you were paying attention. It
sounds like I may need a test after this. Very complicated. We still have two weeks to go to
figure this all out, though. Hopefully, by then, I'll figure it out. Have a little whiteboard next
time with moving pieces. That's a good idea. I'll update the moving pieces as the days go by,
those visual cues. Yeah, it'll be as much for me as it is for the viewer.
All right, well, Davis August, thanks for joining us. Thank you, Tiff.
