ExclusiveA Dramatic Coup Attempt Led by the Vice Chairman of the Party’s Military Commission Has Failed

Rumour came a few days ago, saying that the second and the fourth man in line of the military commission were arrested. The rumour proofed to be real, in that the Chinese Ministry of defense officially announced the arrest of the two top officials, claiming they have seriously breached the law and discipline.

Since Xi Jinping came to power 2012 many top ranking military officials have been purged. Xi purged everyone whom he suspected not willing to take Taiwan. Since 2023, the second man of the military commission, Zhang Youxia, launched under surface anti-Xi purges of other high-ranking generals and officials. Last week it was Zhang Youxia’s turn to be purged. As a result of this series of purge and anti-purge, the most powerful military commission shrank from seven members to two only, one of them is Xi Jinping himself.
