House Fails to Pass Trump-Backed Funding Bill; Georgia Appeals Court Disqualifies Fani Willis

A government shutdown is looming after president-elect Donald Trump's opposition quashed a bipartisan funding deal, that includes a debt limit increase. Republicans and democrats are now trading blame for the last minute fiasco of a possible government shutdown.

A state appeals court disqualified Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from the Georgia election case against Donald Trump and other co-defendants. This means it will be up to the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia to find another prosecutor to take over the case and decide whether to continue pursuing it.

The U.S. confirmed it has two thousand troops in Syria, double the previously reported number. Pentagon Press Secretary Major General Pat Ryder said the additional forces had been in Syria “at a minimum months." The Pentagon Spokesperson added that the additional forces include conventional and special operations troops.
