The gunman is still at large, and a manhunt is underway after UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot and killed in an ambush in New York City. The NYPD released photos of the suspect and asked for the public’s help in identifying him.
A magnitude 7 earthquake shook Northern California, prompting a brief tsunami warning for people along the West Coast. The shock was felt as far south as San Francisco, but there were no reports of major damage or injuries.
French President Emmanuel Macron announced he will name a new prime minister within days, after parliament ousted the government in a no-confidence vote. Macron also vowed to remain in office until the end of his term in 2027.
President-elect Trump’s defense pick, Pete Hegseth, said he has no plans to withdraw after meeting with Congressional lawmakers. Meanwhile, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy also met with lawmakers on Capitol Hill to discuss the work of the Department of Government Efficiency.
