Roman Josi and Ross Colton had a goal and an assist each to lead the host Nashville Predators to a 4-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday.
Nick Perbix and Adam Edstrom also scored for the Predators, who won their second game in a row. Filip Forsberg dished out two assists, extending his point streak to five games (four goals, seven assists), and Juuse Saros made 29 saves.
Jackson Blake supplied the lone goal for the Hurricanes, who had their six-game point streak (5-0-1) snapped. Pyotr Kochetkov stopped 16 shots but saw his 10-game winning streak to begin the season halted.
Nashville led 1-0 at the first intermission despite being outshot 9-5 and allowing 26 shot attempts in the first 20 minutes.
Perbix got his first goal of the season with 7:28 left in the first when he fired in a shot from the right circle after taking a cross-ice pass from Forsberg.
Josi made it 2-0 3:29 into the second period. This time he was the recipient of a Forsberg cross-ice pass, which found Josi on the back door at the bottom of the left circle to one-touch the puck past Kochetkov.
Blake got the Hurricanes on the board with 9:32 left in the second period when he backhanded a loose puck under the crossbar from the slot after his first shot was blocked by Josi to run his point streak to seven games (three goals, six assists).
Edstrom’s goal 5:40 into the third period restored Nashville’s two-goal lead. He tipped Josi’s shot in out of the air with the shaft of the stick for his career-high sixth goal and second in as many games.
Colton added an empty-net goal in the final minute.
Shane Wright played 15 minutes in his debut with the Predators. He was acquired from the Seattle Kraken on Sunday in a trade for Matthew Wood.
Wright centered the second line, between Forsberg and Nils Hoglander, and was on the ice for the team’s first two goals.
Nashville was without Jonathan Marchessault because of a lower-body injury.
