ARIZONA — Charli xcx has canceled her scheduled performance in Arizona on Wednesday night for her “Music, Fashion, Film” tour after falling ill and losing her voice.
The pop star had been traveling across North America with the tour and was set to perform at Glendale’s Desert Diamond Arena following two shows in Los Angeles over the weekend. In a social media statement, she revealed that she had been struggling with illness throughout the recent run of performances and had completely lost her voice.
“I put absolutely everything I have into my performances, both physically and emotionally, and it breaks me that I can’t be with you tomorrow,” she wrote. “My team worked hard to find a new date but ultimately were unable to. I’m so disappointed, but promise to return to AZ in the future.”
She also apologized to fans who had made arrangements to attend the concert, acknowledging the effort involved in planning to see a live performance.
“Again, I’m sorry to the angels who had made plans to be there tomorrow. I know how much time, planning and care it takes to come to concerts and appreciate everyone’s support immensely,” she added.
Fans who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster will receive automatic refunds. Those who bought tickets through other outlets will be refunded at their original point of purchase.
Charli launched her 12-date “Music, Fashion, Film” tour in early September, beginning with a show in Philadelphia before moving to Brooklyn for two performances at Barclays Center. The tour subsequently stopped in Toronto, Atlanta and San Diego.
During her Los Angeles shows this past weekend, the singer welcomed several guests onstage. Chappell Roan joined her for a performance of “Boom Clap,” while PinkPantheress appeared to perform her own song, “Stateside.”
Charli is still scheduled to close out the tour on Friday at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena.
