LEOMINSTER — Chick-fil-A Leominster celebrated its opening on Thursday, Oct. 8, at Twin City Plaza, 905 Merriam Ave., and there were lines spilling over to the Hannaford grocery parking lot next door all weekend, prompting employees and police to check in to make sure the line was flowing along and not disrupting traffic.

The new location will be locally owned and operated by Mary Herndon, who looks forward to creating leadership and growth opportunities for her team and the Leominster community.

Company representative Jared Stump said “We’re excited to be in the Leominster community and to provide 95 jobs.” Noting the long lines, he said it’s been busy since they opened on Thursday. “It’s been great. We’re excited to be here.”

Each Chick-fil-A restaurant is owned and operated by a single individual — a small business owner who lives in the community, creates jobs, mentors talent and reinvests directly into the local economy, according to a Chick-fil-A press release. Herndon will work in her restaurant side by side with team members each day.

“Chick-fil-A gave me the opportunity to grow from a Team Member into the leader I am today, and I’m excited to create those same opportunities for others,” said Herndon in the press release. “I look forward to investing in our Team Members and building a restaurant that makes a lasting impact in the Leominster community.”

Herndon began her Chick-fil-A journey as a teenager and steadily took on leadership roles before spending several years supporting new restaurant openings across the country, including in the Boston area. After more than a decade with Chick-fil-A, she was selected to be a local owner-operator in 2026 and looks forward to bringing her experience developing teams and serving others to Leominster.

The restaurant celebrated the opening with a $25,000 donation to Feeding America to support local hunger relief efforts of Worcester County Food Bank, a Feeding America partner food bank.

Also, participating in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program, which redirects surplus food to local nonprofits, Chick-fil-A Leominster is working with Ginny’s Helping Hand to help feed people in need in Leominster.

Company representatives said that its restaurants strive to provide a great-tasting meal made with real, whole chicken breast and fresh produce, all grown and sourced with care and prepared throughout the day.
