VIDEO: Loyal Dog Leads Police Home to Rescue Fallen and Injured Owner, Who'd Been Stranded for 3 Hours
In a heartwarming display of loyalty, a heroic dog in Kansas saved its owner's life by flagging down a patrolling police officer and leading him home to rescue the resident, who had been injured and stranded on the floor for over three hours.
They say a dog is man's best friend, but sometimes our beloved pets prove to be true guardian angels. In Leawood, Kansas, a faithful canine recently took matters into its own paws to rescue its owner in a moment of desperate need.
The incredible story unfolded on Thursday, September 17, when a Leawood Police Department officer was out patrolling a residential neighborhood. The officer spotted an unusual sight in the dark: a dog standing in the roadway wearing a leash, but with no human in sight. Showing immense intelligence, the dog approached the officer and began to bark, clearly determined to deliver an urgent message. After greeting the animal, the officer wisely trusted his instincts and decided to follow the dog's lead.
The clever pup guided the officer for about half a block, leading the way straight up its own driveway where a second dog was waiting. It was there that the officer noticed an open garage door and found the homeowner lying helplessly on the floor. The resident had suffered a fall and had been stranded there, entirely unable to get up, for more than three agonizing hours.
Because this incredibly loyal companion refused to leave its owner's fate to chance, the officer was able to immediately step in and secure medical attention. Following treatment by medics, the homeowner is now recovering safely in the comfort of their own home.
