Community rallies around ‘Ace’ Armstrong for golf tournament

LEOMINSTER — More than 60 golfers and friends gathered Sept. 12 at Monoosnock Country Club for the sixth annual Richard “Ace” Armstrong Golf Tournament, bringing the community together once again to support children with limb loss.
Over the past six years, the tournament has raised more than $50,000 for Camp No Limits, a summer camp that gives children with limb loss an opportunity to build confidence, develop new skills and connect with others who share similar experiences.
For Armstrong, the tournament is a cause that hits close to home.
Armstrong was introduced to the Hanger Foundation following a traumatic injury that resulted in the loss of his leg. While his family and friends provided tremendous support during his recovery, it was the children he met at the Hanger Clinic who inspired him to give back.
That experience led Armstrong to make it his mission to work with family, friends and members of the community to raise money for Camp No Limits.
Over the years, the tournament has grown into an annual gathering that combines golf, friendship and a shared commitment to helping children with limb loss.
This year’s event raised more than $5,000, continuing Armstrong’s six-year effort to support Camp No Limits and the children it serves.
The generosity of golfers, sponsors, friends and community members allows Armstrong to continue the mission that began with his own experience and the children who inspired him.
“Losing part of your body is tough,” Armstrong said. “The money we raise helps young people know they can still be successful like the rest of society. They are our future leaders.”
