RACELAND, La. — New details have emerged surrounding the sudden death of Ken Urker, the longtime partner of Gypsy Rose Blanchard and father of her daughter, after authorities released information describing what deputies discovered inside his Louisiana home.
Urker was found dead Thursday, October 1 — his 34th birthday — after relatives became concerned when he stopped answering his phone and failed to respond to people at his home. Lafourche Parish sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the Raceland residence at approximately 6:18 p.m. for a welfare check.

According to the police report, Blanchard’s half-brother, Dylan Blanchard, and his wife, Anita, had gone to the residence after being unable to reach Urker. Dylan reportedly knocked at the home for roughly an hour before he and another man eventually entered through an unlocked bedroom window. Urker was found unresponsive in his bed and was described as cold to the touch.
Deputies documented a holstered handgun, a syringe and two shot glasses on or near the nightstand. Investigators also reported finding additional syringes and a spoon in the bathroom near a brown powdery substance. Authorities have not publicly identified that substance.
The report said Urker was lying on his back and that his face and arms appeared blue. Investigators did not report signs that the bedroom had been disturbed.
Family members told investigators Urker had attended church with them the previous evening and had made comments indicating he was depressed and upset. According to police records obtained by CBS News, authorities were also told Urker had previously threatened suicide and that he owned a firearm.
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office has said investigators have found no evidence of foul play, although the investigation remains open.
An autopsy has now been completed, but an official cause and manner of death have not been announced. Toxicology testing remains pending, meaning investigators have not formally determined whether drugs caused Urker’s death.
Blanchard has publicly said she believes Urker suffered an overdose, but acknowledged she does not know whether any overdose was intentional. She also said Urker had been struggling emotionally before his death and had been affected by intense criticism and harassment online.
