Leominster’s Steve Moses lands deal with Railers

The Worcester Railers Hockey Club, proud ECHL affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, and Head Coach and General Manager Nick Tuzzolino, announced Wednesday that the club has signed forward Steve Moses to an ECHL contract for the 2026-27 season.

Moses, 37, comes to Worcester for his 15th professional season. This is Moses’ first professional season in North America since playing in 29 games for the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League during the 2017-18 season.

The Leominster native has spent parts of all 14 of his professional seasons in Europe, having spent the most time in the Kontinental Hockey League between Jokerit and SKA Petersburg. Moses has also spent time in Liiga in Finland, the National League in Switzerland, and the Czechia League.

The 5-foot-9, 176-pound forward played in 537 European games, amassing 330 points (172G, 158A). During the 2014-15 season, Moses led the KHL in goals with 36 in 60 games played. The St. Bernard’s graduate was a KHL All-Star and was named to the KHL’s First All-Star Team that season.

Moses participated in the 2014 Spengler Cup from Dec. 26th to Dec. 31 with Jokerit where he had a goal and two assists in three games. Later that season, he placed third with Team USA in the 2015 IIHF World Championship held in Prague, Czechia.

The Leominster native had a taste of NHL hockey in 2015, signing a one-year deal with the Nashville Predators. After training camp, he was sent to the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals before leaving North America to again play overseas.

He again attended an NHL camp prior to the 2017-18 season with the Buffalo Sabres, leading to his stint with the Rochester Americans in the AHL.

Prior to professional hockey, Moses was a standout at the University of New Hampshire from 2008 to 2012. In 148 collegiate games, Moses totaled 98 points (47G, 51A) to go with 65 penalty minutes and a +18 rating.

Moses played with former Railers captain and Marlboro native Bobby Butler while with the Wildcats from 2008-2010. The two of them were Hockey East Regular Season champions during the 2009-10 regular season. Moses was also a Boston Jr. Bruin from 2005 to 2008, totaling 194 points (82G, 112A) in 139 games.

The Railers are set to kick off the 2026-27 campaign with a preseason contest against the Maine Mariners on Oct. 10 at the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center. The regular season opens a week later with the same teams squaring off at the DCU Center.
