Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

There’s lots of theater to sample as September ends, the crisp air returns and October begins. Stages recommends that you check your favorite venue’s website for the latest ideas as to what’s playing, but here are some suggestions.

The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory in Worcester kicks off its new season, and tickets are on sale now, for “Richard, Oscar, and Lorenz” on the Mighty Wurlitzer with Jonathan Kleefield. The concert and conversation will be on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 2 p.m.  Here is what they say about the event:

“Kicking off the upcoming season with a rousing start, Dr. Kleefield returns to the Mighty Wurlitzer to present the work of 20th century musical and lyrical titans Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein II and Lorenz Hart. These remarkable talents produced some of the era’s most memorable songs, including ‘Manhattan,’ ‘Blue Moon’ and ‘My Funny Valentine.’”

The program will also feature extended medleys from Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals, including “South Pacific,” “The King and I” and “The Sound of Music.” As usual, Kleefield will provide commentary on the lives of these extraordinary creative talents and their musical creations.”

“Come from Away”

“Come from Away” continues through Sunday, Sept. 27, at North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly and it features some of the cast from last season’s successful run at the Ogunquit Playhouse.

It is an uplifting musical based on the true story of what happened in the town of Gander, Newfoundland, on Sept.11, 2001. When 38 planes carrying nearly 7,000 passengers were unexpectedly diverted there, the residents opened their hearts and homes to the stranded travelers. What began as a day of global tragedy transformed into a powerful tale of compassion, connection and humanity. With a vibrant score and a fast-paced narrative, the show captures the tensions, clashes and camaraderie that unfolded over several days. This Tony-winning musical celebrates the human spirit and the capacity for good in the face of crisis.
