Two-time MLS Cup champion and U.S. men’s national team veteran Gyasi Zardes announced his retirement Sunday.
The 35-year-old forward scored 106 goals in 328 MLS matches and tallied 14 more in 68 caps with the USMNT.
“It’s officially time to announce my retirement from professional soccer,” Zardes posted on X. “Thank you to my family, teammates, coaches, staff, organizations, agents, friends, fans, and everyone who has been part of this journey. Forever grateful for it all.”
Zardes won the MLS Cup with the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2014 and then in 2020 with the Columbus Crew. He was an MLS All-Star in 2015 and the league’s Comeback Player of the Year in 2018.
Internationally, he helped the United States win the Concacaf Gold Cup in 2017 and 2021.
Zardes played for the Galaxy (2013-17), Crew (2018-22), Colorado Rapids (2022) and Austin FC (2023-24).
