Costco shoppers across the United States now have another option for getting bulk groceries and other warehouse-store products delivered to their homes, following a major expansion of the retailer’s partnership with Uber Eats.

Uber and Costco announced on Sept. 16 that Costco delivery through Uber Eats has expanded from 17 states to all 47 states where the warehouse chain operates. Nearly 600 Costco locations are now available through the platform, according to an Uber and Costco press release distributed by Business Wire.

Customers can use the Uber Eats app to order groceries, fresh produce, household supplies and other Costco products for either on-demand or scheduled delivery.

“We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Costco nationwide, giving Costco members more ways to shop,” Uber President and Chief Operating Officer Andrew Macdonald said in the release.

Macdonald said the expansion also demonstrates the “scale and opportunity” Uber can offer retailers looking for additional ways to meet consumers’ everyday shopping needs.

Costco members offered Uber discounts

Costco members can link their membership account during checkout in the Uber Eats app, allowing them to access Costco member pricing while ordering through the service.

The companies are also rolling out several promotions alongside the nationwide expansion.

Eligible Costco members can receive 50 percent off an annual Uber One membership during the first year and 20 percent off in subsequent years. Costco is also offering $100 Uber and Uber Eats gift cards for $79.99 for a limited time at participating warehouses and through Costco.com, according to the company announcement.

Consumers who are not already Costco members can also purchase a membership directly through Uber Eats for a limited time. Those customers can receive 30 percent off their first eligible Costco order.

Information provided to PEOPLE said customers can also receive 20 percent off their first three Costco orders of $60 or more through Uber Eats, with the discount capped at $25 per order.

“This expansion gives Costco members another convenient way to shop their local Costco,” the companies said.

Uber One members can also avoid Uber fees on eligible grocery and retail orders exceeding $60 at participating stores, although taxes and other government charges may still apply.

Delivery companies compete for grocery customers

The expansion comes as Uber Eats and other delivery platforms increasingly move beyond restaurant meals and compete for grocery and retail orders.

Costco has worked with Instacart on delivery for nearly a decade, while its original U.S. partnership with Uber Eats, announced in 2024, covered Costco stores in 17 states, according to the Associated Press (AP).

Costco is also expanding its relationship with DoorDash. The company said DoorDash will offer delivery of groceries, household items and electronics from Costco’s U.S. warehouses, with customers required to link a Costco membership to their DoorDash account.

Both Uber Eats and DoorDash have been expanding their grocery businesses as competition intensifies with services including Instacart and Amazon’s grocery delivery operations. The two delivery companies also announced partnerships with Kroger, the largest U.S. supermarket chain, last year, according to AP.
