LOS ANGELES — Taylor Swift’s surprise appearance at the 2026 Emmys was carefully kept secret, with producers revealing how the unexpected cameo came together.
Swift appeared in a comedy sketch connected to Law & Order: SVU, playing a rookie NYPD detective alongside her friend and Emmy host Mariska Hargitay.
Only about 10 people reportedly knew about Swift’s appearance before the show, helping keep the cameo a surprise for viewers.
Swift was also involved in writing the sketch. Adding another connection to Law & Order: SVU, she brought her real cat, Olivia Benson, whose name comes from Hargitay’s character on the series.
