Kathryn Raaker’s World with Kathryn interviewing Mike Powers, Founder and CEO of CoolPath, Inc., Lawyer, County Executive Officer.
Kathryn interviewed Mike Powers, Founder and CEO of CoolPath, Inc., Lawyer, County Executive Officer. Mike, after 30 years of public service, he spent the last three years leading and developing the CoolPath team and our rangeland ecological restoration project. The project is based on large-scale compost application along with other regenerative practices, financed through verified, high-integrity nature-based carbon credits. His team and partners have guided the pioneering project to submission for initial registration as “Under Development” with VERRA, one of the world’s leading voluntary carbon registries. We are fulfilling the mission of CoolPath to achieve ecological restoration, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enhance ranch land and operations.
Serving as County Executive Officer for 11 years, capped off a 30-year career for the County of Ventura, managing a budget of $2.5 billion, and nearly 10,000 employees in 25 departments at over 500 locations. My talented team and I provided oversight and support for all major county functions including budget, finance, legislation, human resources, labor relations, economic development and IT. During this time, we worked to increase the the County’s long term bond ratings to AAA with both Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s, the highest level possible.
