LOS ANGELES — Carly Rae Jepsen is preparing to release her ninth studio album, Day and Night, while embracing major changes in her personal life, including marriage and becoming a mother.

The singer, now 40, became a mother in March and says the experience has brought her happiness as well as a new sense of vulnerability.

Day and Night is a double album that delves into intimacy, relationships, marriage and motherhood. Jepsen says she and her husband, musician and producer Cole MGN, fell in love while she was working on the record.

The album is scheduled to arrive on September 18 through Schoolboy and Interscope.

Alongside her music career, Jepsen is continuing to pursue musical theater. She is working with Lena Dunham on a stage adaptation of 10 Things I Hate About You, which is expected to open next August.
