For years, they’ve gone by the dissident right, the reactionary right, or similar labels. But for some reason, conservatives are reluctant to label the identitarian, Marxist far-right wing of the party as the “woke right,” and that is a mistake. I started using this term back in 2021 for a very simple reason: I noticed people on the right acting like the left.

The woke right is obsessed with identity politics, cancel culture, victimhood, lack of accountability, and behaving like an overly emotional, entitled group of babies. Sounds a lot like the woke left to me—but what do I know?

Well, let’s answer that question. Around 2021, I was “canceled” by the woke left, and I learned its behavior through lived experience. They used gang stalking, smear campaigns, slander, harassment, threats, and intimidation against me simply because I disagreed with them. The vast majority of their issues with me had a racial or identity-based component used to justify their actions. Woke-left behavior can be summed up this way: “You’re a racist, so anything I do to you or say about you is okay.”

Now let’s fast-forward to October 7, 2023: the day the world saw true evil reveal itself in the radical Islamic terrorists who invaded Israel and raped and murdered more than 1,200 women, children, and innocent civilians. While that horror opened the eyes of many who had not been paying attention to the threat posed by radical Islam, we also saw something else reveal itself that day. We saw something that had always been there, hiding in the shadows—something many of us had failed to recognize, and some still do.

We saw the woke right show itself to the world, confident and unashamed.

When I came out in support of Israel—and, more importantly, against radical jihad and the extermination of Jews—I was immediately taken back to the woke mob coming after me two years earlier. But this time, it was coming from “the right.” The behavior was almost identical, though I would argue it seemed even more visceral and intense.

These were not just anonymous NPCs parroting slogans with no real threat behind them. These were people using their real names and faces, proud of what they were saying to me and others like me: that Jews control the world, “did 9/11,” and that if I support “Israel,” then I am a traitor to my country, a fake Christian, and so on. Woke-right behavior can be summed up this way: “You’re a Zionist, so anything I do to you or say about you is okay.”

As conservatives, we need to embrace calling these people exactly what they are: woke. Woke does not mean left-wing, liberal, or snowflake. It means “awake”—specifically, awake to an alleged oppressor.

For the woke left, the oppressor is capitalism, white people, the patriarchy, or whatever else they choose to insert. Their solution is diversity, equity, inclusion, and socialism. For the woke right, the oppressors are globalists, Jews, and Israel. Their solution is ultranationalism, right wing authoritarianism, and Christian theocracy.

They are two sides of the same coin. This is horseshoe theory. You should not call one side of the horseshoe a horseshoe and call the other side a potato. So why are we refusing to acknowledge the “woke” behavior on our side when it so clearly mirrors what we see on theirs?

The Democratic Party has a problem right, now because it refused to call out extremists on its side early. It refused to call out the Squad when AOC was helping drive Amazon out of New York City, or when Ilhan Omar said “some people did something.” when referencing 9/11. It refused to call out radicals who called the riots of 2020 the “summer of love.” The Democrat party made its entire platform about identity and oppression rather than policy, and now identity and oppression is their only policy.

The result? A woman now serves on the Supreme Court who says she cannot define what a woman is. An Islamo-Marxist who hosted a World Trade Center terror-attack co-conspirator in his home is the mayor of the largest city in the country—the very city where 9/11 took place. Luigi Mangione is treated as a hero by the left because we do not have “free” health care, and because back pain supposedly explains shooting a father in the back of the head in cold blood. Lindsay Clancy is likewise treated as a victim because we do not have “free” health care, as though pregnancy somehow explains strangling her baby and two toddlers in cold blood. Tyler Robinson is a hero to the left because he supposedly had to kill Charlie Kirk for saying things such as, “There are only two genders.” Karmelo Anthony is presumed innocent by the left for stabbing and killing Austin Metcalf because Karmelo is Black and Austin was White.

The list goes on. But in every one of those examples, notice that I said “the left,” not “the woke left.”

Thats because the majority of the Democratic Party is either complicit in woke ideology or actively embraces it. Woke is no longer a minority faction on the left; it is the left. If you need more proof, just this week, only eight House Democrats out of 213 voted for a resolution to “condemn socialism in all its forms, including the Democratic Socialists of America.” That is roughly 3.8% of the party.

Let me be clear: socialism will either destroy this entire country, or it will destroy the Democratic Party. What determines that outcome is how many people walk away from the insanity their party has become and vote Republican in November. The DSA is the monster the woke left created. It is currently tearing apart their village, while the establishment—Dr. Wokenstein—watches it happen.

We need to learn from their mistake. We need to do what they refused to do early on: call out woke behavior on our own side before we create a monster of our own.

Most of us know who Nick Fuentes is, and many of us dismissed him as fringe and insignificant—a useful idiot for the left who grabs headlines but does not represent even a small fraction of the right. But we were wrong.

Those who think like Fuentes are still not a large percentage of MAGA or conservatives. But I think many people had absolutely no idea how many people on the right agreed with him until after October 7. Since then, many voices have emerged from the shadows and shown their faces. While they have faced pushback, they should never have been allowed in the tent in the first place.

We have voices such as Tucker Carlson, Thomas Massie, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Alex Jones, and others still claiming to be part of our movement while simultaneously aligning with Islamists, leftists, socialists, communists, and enemies of America. Refusing to denounce them—by minimizing their positions as simple “political disagreements”—is no different from the left embracing the Squad over a decade ago. It will end the same way.

We must reject “big tent” politics while the left embraces it. We need to call out the woke right, and we need to call them the woke right, because Trump was right: “Everything woke turns to shit.”

In summary

If you can name it, you can tame it. But if you ignore it, it will tame you.

It is time to stop ignoring the woke right. It is time to start labeling them properly, because if you do not know who your enemy is, you will not be able to find them inside the tent—and promptly throw them the fuck out of it.

Gatekeeping is a good thing.

Don’t believe me?

Ask the Trojans.
