There are always questions about who makes the Pro Football Hall of Fame or not every single year. There were a lot of people who were upset when former head coach Bill Belichick did not make the hall of fame as a first ballot member in 2026. When the process in 2027 occurs, there are going to be major changes to the process in this hall of fame voting.

There is no doubt that things needed to change. With these necessary changes, fans are not thrilled about it. Whether this is necessary or not, this feel like it is something that had to be done after Belichick did not get into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Fans had some issues with this. One of the fans said about this on Twitter:

This better somehow help London Fletcher into the HOF. Let’s be serious here. pic.twitter.com/9bMa0Mfkri

Well, Jeff Legwold of espn.com reported about the hall of fame changes,

“The Pro Football Hall of Fame has made sweeping changes to its selection process that include a significant reduction in the number of selectors and the elimination of the separate “Seniors” category.
Hall of Fame president and CEO Jim Porter announced the changes Friday, and they will take effect as the Hall’s Class of 2027 is considered.
“The Hall continually reviews its bylaws to ensure the selection process reflects the highest standards of integrity and the magnitude of election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame,” Porter said in a statement. “There is no more important task at the Hall of Fame than the election of each new class.”
Porter said the changes were made after a 2½-year review of the selection process and were recently approved by the Hall’s board of directors.
The board of selectors will be reduced from 50 to 28, as 25 members of the selection committee will be voting members with three alternates. There will no longer be at least one selector in each of the home markets of the 32 NFL teams.
Porter said the changes to the size and makeup of the board of selectors were made to avoid “unintended biases” the Hall said might have been a part of the previous selection process.”

Well, the hall of fame shrinking its board of selectors is very fascinating. There is no doubt that this is a complicated story. It will be interesting to see who will get in for the 2027 year and maybe that will be the blue print of how the voting will be conducted moving forward here also.
