Brunson appeared on the Road Trippin’ podcast to speak to former NBA Champs Richard Jefferson, Channing Frye, and Kendrick Perkins, where he revealed why he wouldn’t call himself the king of NY.

Brunson said,

“I will never call myself the King of New York… Imagine I get on this call with you, right? I’m like, ‘Yo, King of New York’s here.’ You guys are going to look like, ‘What the —-? This dude is so self-centered.'”

Brunson is 30 years old. During the regular season, he played in 74 games. Brunson averaged 26.0 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 6.8 APG, 0.1 BPG, and 0.8 SPG. He was the Eastern Conference Finals MVP and the NBA Finals MVP. They went 16-3 in the playoffs. The Knicks took down the San Antonio Spurs in five games and New York in Game 4 had the largest comeback in NBA Finals History.

New York was just destined to win it all last season. They will be getting championship rings and raising the banner on opening night on Tuesday, October 20th against the Philadelphia 76ers. The game will be televised on NBC. Brunson will continue to be humble for the rest of his NBA career whether he wins another title or not here.
