A CCP-linked official has reportedly purchased a historic building approximately 650 feet from the White House. And when you start digging into who this individual is, the positions he has held, and the kind of training he has reportedly received, I think there are some very serious questions that need to be asked.
Because here’s the deal: we already know that Chinese-linked interests have been allowed to purchase farmland throughout the United States. But even more concerning is the amount of attention that has been focused on property located near U.S. military installations and other sensitive locations. I’ve been reporting on this issue for years, and I can’t help but ask whether some of these purchases are simply coincidence—or whether there is something much bigger happening here. Now we have another property, this one just a hop, skip and a jump away from the White House.
According to a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation cited in my broadcast, a senior Chinese Communist Party intelligence-linked official became the new owner of a historic building overlooking the White House complex. The building, located on 15th Street approximately 650 feet northeast of the White House grounds, was purchased July 21, 2026, for approximately $8.4 million by the Philip Qiu and Family Foundation.
The investigation reported that the building’s new owner has held numerous positions connected to Chinese intelligence and state-security arms. I don’t know about you, but 650 feet is a little too close to the White House for comfort, especially when you start looking at the credentials and background being reported about this man. And I’m not the only one raising questions.
Multiple intelligence experts reportedly told the Daily Caller News Foundation that the property should be investigated by federal authorities because of the potential national-security implications. Former CIA operations officer Brian Dean Wright raised the possibility that a property in such a location could potentially be useful for intelligence operations, including listening posts or technology capable of collecting communications and digital information. He also warned about newer threats involving drones and other emerging technologies. Those are not my words. Those concerns are coming from a former CIA operations officer. And that brings us back to the individual behind the purchase.
According to the information presented in the investigation, the owner began his career as a detective with a criminal investigation team in Shanghai. Shanghai’s criminal investigation team operates within the Shanghai Public Security Bureau, which is subordinate to China’s Ministry of Public Security. The reporting also states that he had received combat-related training by the time he enrolled in a Shanghai university master’s program in 2011. Photographs reportedly showed students carrying rifles and wearing camouflage during a team-building war game. But it doesn’t stop there.
The investigation states that he also held three positions connected to the United Front Work Department, a CCP influence and intelligence organization. According to the House Select Committee on the CCP, United Front operations combine engagement, influence activities and intelligence operations that Beijing can use to influence foreign policy and gain access to advanced foreign technology. So again, I have to ask: Why is somebody with this kind of background connected to property sitting just hundreds of feet away from the White House? And here’s another kicker.
The foundation connected to the purchase is reportedly headquartered at another historic property about half a mile north of the White House, which is shared with several other entities controlled by the same individual. So we’re not talking about one location.
We’re talking about two properties near the White House connected to somebody whose reported background includes Chinese government positions, public-security work, military-style training and links to CCP influence organizations. Are they trying to put the president in harm’s way? I don’t know. But when somebody with those kinds of reported connections is operating 650 feet from the White House, I think asking questions is more than justified.
Is President Trump 650 feet away from death?
That is obviously a provocative question, but when it comes to protecting the president of the United States, I would much rather federal authorities investigate something and discover there is no threat than ignore warning signs that later turn out to matter. This could become a life-or-death issue if the proper precautions and investigations are not taken.
We’re not talking about an ordinary piece of property in an ordinary neighborhood. We’re talking about property almost directly outside one of the most sensitive locations in the United States. And then you have to put this into the larger picture. Chinese-linked entities have also purchased property near American military installations. One example cited in my broadcast involved roughly 12 acres approximately one mile from F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming.
Another involved 23 acres purchased in New Hampshire near major defense-related facilities and within roughly 30 minutes of New Boston Space Force Station. Another case involved hundreds of acres near Grand Forks Air Force Base. And yet another involved a massive amount of acreage near Laughlin Air Force Base.
At the same time, Chinese interests have purchased farmland throughout the United States, something that has increasingly raised concerns about national security and critical infrastructure. We’ve had cyberattacks connected to China. We watched a Chinese surveillance balloon travel across the United States. We’ve had years of questions surrounding espionage, technology theft, farmland ownership and Chinese influence operations. And now we’re looking at a property purchase approximately 650 feet from the White House involving an individual reportedly linked on multiple fronts to the Chinese government and CCP influence operations. Why isn’t someone sounding the alarm? Especially when we are talking about proximity to the president of the United States.
Maybe there is an innocent explanation for all of it. Maybe investigators will look into it and determine there is nothing to worry about. But I believe the American people deserve to know who is purchasing property near our military bases, who is purchasing property near our critical infrastructure and, most importantly, who is purchasing property practically next door to the White House. Because when national security is involved, ignoring the question is not an acceptable answer.
