There were a lot of NBA fans who were looking forward to the 2026-2027 NBA schedule release. Well, the schedule release was officially announced on Tuesday. The NBA announced that there will be three games on opening night on Tuesday, October 20th. The first game at 3 p.m. on NBC will feature Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics taking on Cade Cunningham and the Detroit Pistons.

After that, NBC will show the New York Knicks banner raising ceremony at 6:30 p.m. ET. That same night, the Knicks and Jalen Brunson will be facing a LeBron James led Philadelphia 76ers. At 9:30 p.m. ET, it will be a Western Conference Finals rematch between Shai Gilgegous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs.

There are a lot of people who think that Detroit will regress this season. The Cleveland Cavaliers with Donovan Mitchell or the Miami Heat with Giannis Antetokounmpo would have been a better option for Boston to play on the road on Opening Night. It will be interesting to see how the games will go here. The first game will be the appetizer for the main course of games that will be on later that night also.
