A man accused of photographing Trump National Golf Club and observing security preparations ahead of President Donald Trump’s visit was arrested Sunday after authorities allegedly discovered loaded ammunition in his pocket and a cache of weapons in his vehicle and residence.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies took 38-year-old Jeanine John Taele into custody in Rancho Palos Verdes as law enforcement prepared for Trump’s appearance at the golf course.
According to a FOX News report, Taele had allegedly been “walking the golf course grounds taking photographs and videos while appearing to monitor security planning activities.”
Deputies detained Taele and conducted a pat-down search. Authorities allegedly found “a 16-round magazine loaded with hollow-point ammunition” inside one of his pockets.
Investigators then searched his vehicle and discovered “a loaded pistol with a round chambered, along with another loaded magazine containing hollow-point ammunition.”
The inquiry expanded to Taele’s residence, where law enforcement found additional weapons and tactical equipment, according to Houston Public Media.
Authorities reportedly recovered a rifle, another pistol, body armor and additional ammunition during the search of the home.
The arrest occurred before Trump’s scheduled visit to Trump National Golf Club, which he owns. The information provided did not identify a suspected motive or indicate whether Taele had made any threats against the president.
The U.S. Secret Service is participating in the investigation, which remains ongoing.
