Federal election records show employees at Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, Meta and xAI overwhelmingly favored Democratic candidates and organizations between April and June 2026, with OpenAI-linked contributions going entirely to Democratic groups during the quarter.

Employees of five major artificial intelligence companies contributed substantially more money to Democratic candidates and political organizations than to Republicans during the second quarter of 2026, according to Federal Election Commission filings.
Staff members associated with Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, Meta and xAI gave a combined $2.02 million to Democrats and approximately $274,000 to Republicans between April 1 and June 30, according to an analysis of the federal records. The figures were also detailed in a Daily Caller News Foundation report.

OpenAI employees showed the most one-sided partisan split. Their approximately $71,000 in individual donations and roughly $225,000 in political action committee contributions went entirely to Democratic-aligned groups, with no money recorded for Republican organizations during the quarter, according to the company-related FEC filing data.
The largest OpenAI-linked contribution was a single $200,000 donation to DreamNYC. The super PAC supported Democratic New York Assemblyman Alex Bores, a prominent advocate of artificial intelligence regulation, during his unsuccessful 2026 congressional campaign, according to the organization’s website.
Those second-quarter contributions differed from major political giving by OpenAI President and co-founder Greg Brockman and his wife in 2025. The couple contributed a combined $25 million to the pro-Trump super PAC MAGA Inc., according to a New York Times report.
Anthropic employees accounted for the largest total amount of political giving among the five companies. Of approximately $1.616 million in contributions, 68.8% went to Democrats and 12.9% went to Republicans, according to FEC records.
The company’s employees gave Republicans approximately 19 times more than Google employees did and about four times more than Meta employees. Anthropic researcher Daniel Ziegler alone contributed $500,000 to DreamNYC, representing approximately 31% of all giving associated with Anthropic employees during the quarter.
Anthropic’s employee-funded political action committee displayed a different partisan balance from the company’s overall employee donations.
“AnthroPAC, Anthropic’s employee-funded political action committee, brought in more than $275k in Q2 — more than similar PACs from tech giants like Google and Amazon have raised in recent quarters,” Politico’s Jacob Wendler wrote on X. “Contributions [from AnthroPAC] were 55/45 split R to D.”
Google employees contributed more than $608,000 during the quarter, directing 72.4% to Democrats and 1.8% to Republicans, according to the company’s FEC contribution records.
Meta employees gave more than 65% of approximately $245,000 in total contributions to Democrats, while Republicans received 22%, according to separate filings. The available information did not establish whether donations associated with Google and Meta came specifically from employees working in their artificial intelligence divisions.
OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Meta did not immediately respond to requests for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Political donations connected to Elon Musk’s xAI were far smaller than those recorded for the other companies. Employees of the Grok developer contributed $1,641 during the second quarter, with $1,041 going to Democrats and one $600 contribution going to a Republican.
“Grok is the most politically neutral and objectively truth-seeking AI,” Musk wrote on X.
Musk cited a study by The Neutrality Project that presented political survey questions to several artificial intelligence models. The project assigned Grok 4.5 a score of minus 0.02 and ranked it as the most politically neutral model included in the comparison.
Other models received scores farther to the left in the study. OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Luna scored minus 0.46, Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5 scored minus 0.48, Meta’s Llama 3.3 70B scored minus 0.55 and Google’s Gemma 3 27B scored minus 0.56.
The contribution figures reflect personal and PAC donations associated with company employees rather than direct corporate endorsements. Even so, the second-quarter filings show a pronounced Democratic advantage in political giving across most of the leading artificial intelligence companies, particularly at OpenAI, where nearly $296,000 in recorded contributions went to Democratic groups and none went to Republicans.
