President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are scheduled to meet in Washington on Tuesday, according to a White House official, setting up another high-level discussion as the administration weighs its approach to the war with Russia.

A Ukrainian source said Zelenskyy was interested in making the trip but that his team was still waiting for formal confirmation of Trump’s schedule from the White House. Representatives for the Ukrainian president did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the planned meeting.

The first public indication of the visit came earlier Friday from conservative activist and Trump ally Laura Loomer, who interviewed Zelenskyy and said he told her he would probably travel to the United States next week.

According to Loomer, the Ukrainian leader said the trip would include a meeting with Trump. She also said Zelenskyy planned to attend the funeral of the late Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.

Graham, who died earlier this month, was one of Ukraine’s most prominent supporters in Congress following Russia’s invasion. He traveled to Ukraine 10 times during the war and repeatedly advocated for tougher sanctions against Moscow and continued U.S. assistance for Kyiv.

The planned Washington meeting will give Trump and Zelenskyy an opportunity to discuss the course of the conflict, U.S. support for Ukraine and the administration’s strategy toward Russia.

Neither the White House nor Zelenskyy’s office immediately released additional details about the agenda, timing or format of the meeting.
