Weng Gui Mi (Mi meaning "crown prince") was a considerate king who deeply respected the customs of the Han court. After ascending the throne, he did not immediately marry Princess Jieyou. Instead, he first sent a formal betrothal gift to her residence, asking whether she was willing to become his wife.
Touched by the respect he showed her, Princess Jieyou accepted his proposal. She also wrote to the Han court, requesting additional troops to help defend Wusun against the Xiongnu and secure Weng Gui Mi's throne.
On the day of their wedding, Weng Gui Mi held the ceremony according to the marriage traditions of the Central Plains. As Liu Ye escorted the princess to her wedding, he saw how much care and devotion the King of Wusun had poured into every detail. Unable to hold back his emotions, he burst into tears.
Seeing her husband weep, Lady Feng felt no jealousy. Instead, she quietly clasped his hand, filling his heart with warmth.
Liu Ye later told the princess that during the past eight years, while making his patrols, he had often seen Weng Gui Mi standing alone outside the princess's residence, silently gazing toward it. Yet he never knew why, and asked the princess to seek the answer from the king herself.
Before the wedding, Weng Gui Mi dismissed the late king's consorts. Although they were formally released from their positions, he allowed them to remain within the Wusun royal household, provided them with generous financial support, and arranged attendants to care for them respectfully, including the former Left Consort Dangyu Juci.
