The American League continued its recent dominance in Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game with a convincing 4-0 victory over the National League on Tuesday night at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. A stellar pitching display, led by starting pitcher Dylan Cease, combined with timely hitting to secure the Midsummer Classic win.
Cease, making his first All-Star Game start, set the tone by striking out all three batters he faced in a flawless opening inning. The American League bullpen maintained the momentum, combining for a dominant outing that limited the National League to just three hits while recording a record 15 strikeouts. The shutout marked the first in the All-Star Game since 2013.
The American League wasted little time building its advantage. Cody Bellinger delivered a two-run single during a three-run first inning before Ben Rice added an RBI single to extend the lead. Miguel Vargas provided the final blow with a towering solo home run in the eighth inning, the game’s only extra-base hit.
Bellinger was named the All-Star Game’s Most Valuable Player after driving in two runs and igniting the decisive early rally. His performance highlighted an efficient offensive display that capitalized on scoring opportunities while the National League struggled to generate momentum.
National League starter Cristopher Sánchez took the loss after allowing three runs in the opening inning. Although relievers, including Justin Wrobleski, settled the game afterward, the early deficit proved too much to overcome as the National League failed to mount a comeback.
The victory added another chapter to the American League’s impressive All-Star Game record, showcasing elite pitching depth and disciplined hitting in baseball’s annual showcase.
