The War Department released a new batch of declassified and historical records Friday involving Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena, adding documents, videos, audio files and images to the Pentagon’s public UAP archive.
The latest release includes 40 files from the War Department, NASA, the CIA, the FBI and the Department of Energy. The materials include 14 documents, 19 videos, four audio recordings and three images.
The files were published as part of President Donald Trump’s executive order directing greater transparency on government records related to UAP encounters.
“Today, the Department of War is publishing the fourth release of declassified and historical Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) files as part of the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE),” Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said in a statement posted on the Pentagon’s website.
Parnell said more files will be released on a rolling basis.
Among the newly published materials is a military aviator’s account of a 2019 encounter over the eastern United States. The aviator described seeing a fast-moving rectangular object whose flight behavior could not be readily explained.
“I noticed an object with flight characteristics unlike anything I had seen in my 28 years of performing for the [Air Force] and Navy,” the aviator wrote, according to CBS News.
Several experienced personnel were unable to identify the object, CBS reported.
Another newly released report concerns a 2015 incident near the Pantex nuclear weapons facility outside Amarillo, Texas. The report said security officers pursued a silent unidentified object that appeared to have no visible propulsion system before it disappeared from view.
The release also contains infrared videos from encounters over the Atlantic Ocean, the western Pacific and the Middle East.
One recording cited by the New York Post shows what military analysts described as “an area of contrast resembling a six-pointed star” over the Yellow Sea near China and the Korean Peninsula.
Other documents include a 2020 Atlantic Ocean range fouler debrief describing an object that appeared similar to a large balloon but could not be positively identified. Investigators described the object as jellyfish-shaped.
The historical records included in the release extend back decades. Among them are transcripts from a 1949 conference in Los Alamos, New Mexico, where Manhattan Project scientists discussed unexplained “green fireballs” that had been repeatedly observed over the nuclear laboratory.
Researchers at the time did not settle on a conventional explanation for the sightings.
The latest disclosure does not establish proof of extraterrestrial life. Pentagon officials have continued to say UAP investigations examine a range of possible explanations, including weather balloons, atmospheric conditions and advanced foreign technology.
Trump has publicly expressed skepticism about alien life while also calling for broader disclosure of government records on unidentified aerial and anomalous phenomena. Earlier this year, he directed federal agencies to declassify historical UAP files following years of public demands for more information.
Friday’s release is not expected to be the final disclosure. Pentagon officials said additional UAP files are being prepared for publication under the administration’s transparency initiative.
