President Donald Trump called on congressional Republicans to move quickly on a new legislative package that would combine $350 billion in defense spending with the SAVE America Act, saying lawmakers should make the measure their leading priority when they return to Washington after the Fourth of July break.
In an early Tuesday Truth Social post, Trump described the proposal as “Reconciliation 3.0” and argued that it would strengthen U.S. military power while advancing his broader America First agenda.
“The United States Military has never been stronger, or more powerful. No other Nation can do what we do (It’s not even close!),” Trump wrote.
The president pointed to recruiting gains and military morale as evidence that the armed forces are operating from a position of strength. He also tied the military’s public image to the recent celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.
“This year we set even more Historic Recruiting Records, months ahead of schedule. Morale has never been higher,” Trump said. “Our Military’s unmatched POWER was on full display during our Celebration of 250 Years of American Independence.”
Trump also referred to the administration’s rebranding of the Pentagon as the “War Department,” saying the agency “has never been ‘HOTTER’” and should remain fully funded.
“We need to keep it that way, which is why, when Congress returns, we must pass Reconciliation 3.0, with 350 Billion Dollars for Defense, plus THE SAVE AMERICA ACT!” Trump wrote.
The president urged House and Senate leaders to act through the budget process and advance the defense money as soon as lawmakers reconvene.
“I am calling on House and Senate Leadership to make this their Number One Priority, and ensure that $350 Billion in Recon 3.0 moves out of the Budget Committee as soon as Congress is back in session,” he said.
Trump linked the defense funding push to the SAVE America Act, which Republicans have promoted as a major part of the administration’s election integrity and immigration agenda.
Republican lawmakers have said the legislation is needed to prevent noncitizens from voting in federal elections. Democrats have generally opposed the measure, arguing it is unnecessary and could create added burdens for eligible voters.
“The SAVE AMERICA ACT, which everyone is asking for, paired with the full funding of our Great Department of War, can be passed very quickly, ensuring that the United States of America stays FREE for Generations to come,” Trump wrote.
The House and Senate are scheduled to return Thursday. Republican leaders are expected to take up a crowded agenda that includes budget reconciliation, defense spending and other White House-backed priorities.
