President Donald Trump rang the opening bell for the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq from the Oval Office on Monday during an event tied to the launch of a new youth investment account initiative.

Video footage showed Trump ringing a small bell placed on his desk as business leaders and children gathered in the Oval Office for the ceremony.

The event marked the rollout of “Trump accounts,” an administration initiative intended to create investment accounts for young Americans that they can use later in life, according to CNBC.

The accounts include $1,000 from the U.S. Treasury and have also received private financial support. The submitted information said billions of dollars have been pledged by private individuals, including Dell CEO Michael Dell and Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra.

The White House event brought together a group of CEOs and children to highlight the program, which the administration is presenting as a way to give young Americans an early investment foundation.

By ringing the opening bell from the Oval Office, Trump connected the launch of the accounts with the country’s major stock exchanges and framed the initiative around long-term participation in the American economy.
