George and Alex Soros have directed nearly all of their midterm-cycle spending toward Democratic candidates and causes through Democracy PAC, putting the family on track to potentially surpass its previous election spending record.

George Soros and his political network have directed $102.8 million into the current midterm election cycle, making him the largest individual donor so far and putting him on track to potentially exceed his previous midterm spending record, according to reports.

The spending comes more than four months before the November elections and is aimed at helping Democratic candidates and causes. Soros spent $128 million during the previous midterm cycle four years ago, when he was also the largest single donor, according to the New York Post.

Only $793,800 of this cycle’s contributions were made directly in the 95-year-old donor’s name, according to a review of publicly available Federal Election Commission data cited by the outlet. Nearly all of the money, about $102 million, moved through Democracy PAC, the super PAC Soros launched in 2020 and now used as the family’s primary political vehicle.

The New York Post reported that the donations place Soros in position to surpass his own midterm spending record if the pace continues.

“Money talks, and Soros money says the most insidious, unconstitutional, costly tax hikes in American history are on the table,” said Douglas Kellogg, state projects director for Americans for Tax Reform.

Kellogg also described Soros as a “wannabe Bond villain” and accused him of helping drive a leftward shift inside the Democratic Party.

The latest spending follows earlier reporting that Soros began the 2026 cycle with $50 million in political expenditures. NewsBusters reported that the scale of the spending shows Soros remains heavily involved in U.S. politics despite formally transferring control of his philanthropic network to his son, Alex Soros.

“The news comes after it was reported in April that Soros kicked off his 2026 spending with $50 million,” NewsBusters reported. “The level of Soros’ expenditures signals that the 95-year-old leftist billionaire isn’t exactly riding off into the sunset for retirement despite formally handing control over his multibillion-dollar philanthropic empire to his more radical son Alex. In fact, the elder Soros has proven beyond any doubt that he has no intention of ceasing his attempts to buy political outcomes that comport with his utopian ideals.”

Democracy PAC’s role in the spending has drawn attention because it concentrates much of the Soros family’s political giving through a single super PAC. The New York Post described the committee as the family’s main political arm and said the structure makes it more difficult to determine which candidates and groups the family is supporting at any given time.

The spending adds another major financial factor to the midterm elections, with Soros and his network positioned to remain among the most influential Democratic donors in the cycle.
