Vice President JD Vance warned Iran on Friday that the United States would respond with force to further attacks after American forces struck Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz.

Vance issued the warning after U.S. Central Command said American forces hit Iranian missile and drone storage sites and coastal radar installations in response to Tehran’s attack on a commercial vessel transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

“Iran signed a ceasefire agreement. We have honored it,” Vance wrote on X while sharing CENTCOM’s statement on the strikes.

“If they have disagreements about how the MOU is being applied, they can pick up the phone,” he added.

“But violence will be met with violence.”

The remarks came as tensions continued around the Strait of Hormuz, where U.S. forces struck Iranian military targets following the attack on a commercial ship. CENTCOM said the targets included missile and drone storage locations and coastal radar sites.

Bahrain said Saturday that it had also been targeted by Iranian drones, adding another regional concern after the U.S. strikes.

Vance’s statement framed the U.S. response as enforcement of the ceasefire agreement and warned Tehran against further military action. His comments also signaled that the administration expects disputes over the memorandum of understanding to be handled diplomatically rather than through attacks on ships or regional targets.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical maritime corridor, and the attack on commercial shipping has intensified scrutiny of whether Iran will comply with the ceasefire terms. U.S. officials said American forces remain positioned to respond if Iranian attacks continue.
