Prosecutors in the Charlie Kirk murder case have secured limited use immunity for Lance Twiggs, a key witness who authorities say lived with Tyler Robinson and was romantically involved with him.

The agreement allows Twiggs to testify in person at an upcoming preliminary hearing while limiting how his statements may be used against him. Prosecutors said in a court filing that they intend to cross-examine Twiggs and present his recorded statements along with text messages exchanged between him and Robinson.

Robinson is accused of fatally shooting Turning Point USA founder and conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Sept. 10, 2025, during an event at Utah Valley University. Utah prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

According to LA Magazine, prosecutors disclosed the witness agreement in new court filings as the case moves toward a highly anticipated preliminary hearing.

“The murder case against Tyler Robinson, the Utah man accused of fatally shooting Turning Point USA founder and conservative activist Charlie Kirk, is heading towards the highly-anticipated preliminary hearing. And prosecutors have scored a big win with a significant witness,” the outlet reported.

“In new court filings, prosecutors revealed they have granted limited ‘use immunity’ to Robinson’s alleged romantic partner and roommate, Lance Twiggs, in exchange for a sworn recorded statement,” the report continued.

“Prosecutors say Twiggs told investigators Robinson confessed to killing Kirk, hid the alleged murder weapon, got rid of his clothing, and urged Twiggs not to speak with police. They plan to present Twiggs’ recorded statement, along with text messages between the two, during Robinson’s preliminary hearing in July,” the report stated.

Authorities allege Robinson used a Mauser 98 .30-06 rifle in the shooting.

Robinson has been charged with aggravated murder, a capital offense; felony reckless discharge of a firearm causing bodily injury; felony obstruction of justice for allegedly hiding the firearm; felony obstruction of justice for allegedly discarding clothing worn during the shooting; witness tampering for allegedly asking his roommate to delete incriminating messages; witness tampering for allegedly demanding that the roommate stay silent and not speak to police; and commission of a violent offense in the presence of a child.

Earlier reports on newly released search warrants said investigators recovered a handwritten note allegedly written by Robinson to Twiggs, who was also identified by the name “Luna.”

According to the newly unsealed affidavit, Robinson allegedly wrote that he had planned to kill Kirk.

“I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I took it,” Robinson wrote, according to investigators.

Investigators also recovered DNA evidence and a palm print on the roof of the Losee Center building, according to the information provided.

Authorities said a bullet fragment recovered from Kirk’s body was identified as a .30 caliber round that matched the rifle allegedly used by Robinson.

The preliminary hearing is expected to give prosecutors their first major opportunity to lay out evidence in court, including Twiggs’ testimony, the text exchanges, the recorded statement, the alleged handwritten note and forensic evidence collected during the investigation.
