A source told the publication that the decision followed careful consideration, adding that the two remain friends and continue to support one another despite the split.
Grande, 32, and Slater, 34, first met in 2023 while filming Wicked, the movie adaptation of the popular stage musical, in the United Kingdom. Grande portrayed Glinda the Good Witch, while Slater played Boq Woodsman, a character who later becomes the Tin Man.
The couple made their relationship Instagram official in 2024 and subsequently appeared together at promotional events for Wicked and its sequel, Wicked: For Good. During their relationship, both finalized divorces from their previous spouses.
News of the breakup comes as Grande embarks on her long-awaited Eternal Sunshine tour, her first concert tour since 2019. The tour follows the release of her Eternal Sunshine album and precedes her upcoming record, Petal, which is scheduled for release next month and has already been introduced by the single Hate That I Made You Love Me.
In recent years, Grande has increasingly focused on acting and earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the first Wicked film.
Slater, meanwhile, received recognition alongside the Wicked ensemble with a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Cast at the Actor Awards, formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards. He is also known for earning a Tony Award nomination for his Broadway debut in SpongeBob SquarePants.
