President Donald Trump said the planned White House ballroom will include a “DronePort” that he described as a major security feature for the nation’s capital, while criticizing a federal judge and a lawsuit challenging the project.

In a social media post, Trump said the proposed DronePort would be part of the White House Ballroom and would help defend Washington, D.C., against modern threats.

“The DronePort at the White House Ballroom will be, perhaps, the most sophisticated anywhere in the World! It will safeguard our Nation’s Capital, Washington, D.C., long into the future. Judge Richard Leon should stop playing games with America’s Security!” Trump wrote.

Trump said Judge Richard Leon would bear responsibility if the project is blocked and a security incident later occurs.

“If anything happens, he will be held responsible for the Death and Destruction caused to our Country,” Trump added.

The president argued that the legal challenge has already caused national security concerns by allowing sensitive information to be made public. He said the lawsuit was filed by what he described as a “highly litigious woman” whose objection centered on the effect the new structure would have on her ability to walk in the area.

Trump said Leon had “already created enough problems by allowing ‘Top Secret’ information to be released and exposed based on a ridiculous lawsuit started by a highly litigious woman (serial plaintiff!) whose ‘strolling,’ in her opinion, will be disturbed by the new, desperately needed structure.”

Trump said he believes the lawsuit lacks standing and should be dismissed immediately. He argued that the security needs of Washington have changed because of advances in modern weapons technology.

“With the advent of highly sophisticated, and powerful, modern day weaponry, we can no longer defend Washington, D.C., with rifles and pistols, alone. This ridiculous lawsuit must be dismissed, IMMEDIATELY!” Trump wrote.

The president’s remarks framed the DronePort as a central element of the White House Ballroom proposal, tying the project to long-term security planning for Washington rather than only to the ballroom’s event space.
