Israeli Ambassador to the United States Michael Leiter issued a strong warning Thursday about Iran’s nuclear capabilities, arguing that any future agreement with Tehran must include the complete dismantling of its nuclear infrastructure to prevent the rapid production of weapons-grade material.

Speaking during NewsNation’s “Katie Pavlich Tonight,” Leiter stressed that Iran currently possesses approximately 1,700 centrifuges capable of enriching nuclear material in a very short period of time. According to him, those centrifuges represent a major security threat and cannot simply remain intact under any negotiated arrangement.

Leiter explained that the ideal outcome would involve Iran fully opening its nuclear facilities to international oversight and allowing independent experts and inspectors to verify that all sensitive equipment and materials have been removed. He emphasized that transparency and verification would be critical components of any credible agreement aimed at preventing Iran from advancing its nuclear ambitions.

“The best-case scenario,” Leiter said, “would be that they actually open it up as a result of any deal and turn it over, with inspectors and experts coming in to assess that everything has been removed.”

The ambassador further warned that Iran’s enrichment capabilities remain dangerously advanced. He noted that the country’s 1,700 centrifuges could produce enriched nuclear material almost immediately if left operational.

“It’s important to point out,” Leiter added, “they have 1,700 centrifuges that can produce enriched material tomorrow. So those have to be dismantled as well, or at least completely taken out of the ability to be reconstituted.”

Leiter also expressed confidence that diplomatic negotiations could still lead to a peaceful resolution, but only if the final agreement guarantees the total elimination of Iran’s nuclear capabilities. He suggested that a strong and enforceable deal would be preferable to renewed military action or escalating regional conflict.

“We’re very confident,” he stated, “that if we have a deal of that nature, rather than going back to kinetic activity, it’s going to include a complete dismantlement of Iran’s nuclear capabilities.”

The comments come amid growing international concern over Iran’s nuclear program and ongoing discussions surrounding possible diplomatic agreements between Tehran and world powers. Israeli officials have repeatedly maintained that Iran must never be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons capability, arguing that even partial enrichment capacity could pose a serious threat to regional and global security.
