Ron Johnson is intensifying his investigation into federal handling of COVID-19 vaccine safety data, accusing Biden administration health officials of deliberately suppressing warning signs linked to adverse reactions reported after vaccination.
The chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee recently released a committee report titled “Unmasked: How Biden Health Officials Purposely Turned a Blind Eye Toward COVID-19 Vaccine Safety Signals.” Johnson has also announced plans for a hearing focused on what he describes as failures by federal agencies to properly investigate reported vaccine-related injuries and deaths.
During an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures” with Jackie DeAngelis, Johnson sharply criticized former top vaccine regulator Peter Marks, alleging that information tied to the federal Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, commonly known as VAERS, was concealed from the public.
“He was shown 25 adverse events where there were safety signals including sudden cardiac death, pulmonary infarction, Bell’s palsy, different types of strokes, and he hid it,” Johnson said during the interview. “They are lying about it to this day. They continue to use the old algorithm.”
Johnson argued that individuals who experienced serious medical complications after receiving COVID-19 vaccines deserve legal recourse if federal officials knowingly withheld information related to safety concerns.
“Hundreds of thousands of people that experienced adverse events, the tens of thousands that died, reported on VAERS associated with this vaccine, these people ought to have a cause to action against those government officials that hid what the American people had a right to know,” Johnson said. “But they lied bald-faced to the American public.”
The senator also accused major media organizations of ignoring the issue despite the release of his committee findings and continued congressional scrutiny.
“And unfortunately – I appreciate Fox covering this – not one major network has picked up the story,” Johnson stated. “This has been three weeks now. Like I said, the biggest government scandal in my lifetime, and mum’s the word because everybody was complicit in it.”
Johnson later added, “Americans had the Right to Know, and those affected deserve justice.”
VAERS, jointly managed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, serves as a national early warning reporting system designed to collect reports of adverse events that occur after vaccination. Federal health agencies have consistently stated that reports submitted to VAERS alone do not establish causation and require further scientific investigation.
Johnson has repeatedly used his Senate position to examine federal pandemic policies, vaccine mandates, and government communications related to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.
The new report and planned hearings are expected to add further political scrutiny to the Biden administration’s public health response and vaccine oversight during the COVID-19 emergency period.
