Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of President Donald Trump, married Bettina Anderson in West Palm Beach, Florida, this week ahead of a larger private ceremony planned in the Bahamas.

According to an NBC News report, the marriage was formally finalized Thursday in Palm Beach County.

Anderson comes from a prominent Florida family. Her father, Harry Loy Anderson Jr., is a banker and philanthropist with longstanding ties in the Palm Beach area.

Additional details about the ceremony were reported by TMZ, which stated that the Florida proceeding served as a legal formality before the couple’s planned celebration on a private island in the Bahamas.

TMZ reported that the ceremony was officiated by Brad McPherson, a real estate attorney who has worked with the Trump family for years.

“This was a legal formality the pair needed to handle before their actual ceremony outside of the U.S.,” the outlet reported.

President Donald Trump publicly announced the couple’s engagement during a White House Christmas party in December, according to previous reporting by Breitbart News.

Sources speaking to People said the couple selected the Bahamas location in part to keep the event smaller and more private.

“July 4 belongs to America, and early fall is not a good time to plan a wedding in south Florida or on the islands due to questionable bad weather, so they decided to do it now in a place they both love,” a source told the outlet.

The report also stated that Anderson recently hosted a bridal shower at Mar-a-Lago in April and preferred not to hold another major event at the same location so soon afterward.

Trump Jr. continues to play a major role within the Trump Organization alongside his brother Eric Trump and frequently appears with President Trump at political events and campaign activities.

According to NBC News, Anderson serves as a committee member for the Project Paradise Film Fund, an organization focused on environmental protection initiatives in Florida.
