A Georgia man who stole hard drives containing unreleased music by Beyoncé has been sentenced to two years in prison following a break-in linked to the singer’s Cowboy Carter tour.

Kelvin Evans, 41, pleaded guilty to charges including entering an automobile and criminal trespass in an Atlanta court. A judge also ordered him to serve three years of probation after his release.

The theft happened on 8 July 2025, shortly before Beyoncé began a four-night run of performances at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Prosecutors said Evans smashed the rear window of a rented Jeep Wagoneer used by the singer’s choreographer, Christopher Grant, and dancer Diandre Blue, before stealing luggage and electronic devices.

Authorities said the stolen items included two MacBook laptops, Apple headphones, luxury clothing and accessories, along with hard drives containing unreleased Beyoncé material. Grant also told investigators the devices held sensitive personal information connected to the global music star.

According to prosecutors, surveillance footage showed a red Hyundai driven by Evans pulling up beside the rental vehicle in a parking garage. Additional video later captured the same car arriving at an apartment complex, where Evans was allegedly seen handling suitcases believed to belong to the victims.

Investigators used tracking technology from the stolen laptops to connect the devices to the apartment address seen in the footage. However, officials said the hard drives and several other items have still not been recovered.

Evans reached a plea agreement ahead of a trial that was scheduled to begin this week. As part of his sentence, he has also been ordered to stay away from the victims and the parking garage where the theft occurred.
